This Soap Opera is just beginning!!

The NY Dailynews is already reporting that he is already local hero in his town of Jarabacoa and his long time sweetheart still misses him! They can't wait until he returns. The newspaper reported on a "Financial Planner", who also happens to be Dominican, drove from Virginia at 4am to Passaic NJ, just to talk to him. He said he just want 5 minutes of his time! Nobody was home (No kidding!) and people are looking for their new friend.

Now, the $29k is nothing for him to worry about. What he has to worry about is when those baby mamas haul his ass into court to "READJUST" those paltry child-support amounts! Most states allow re-calculation of child-support payments when there is a substantial increase in a parent's income.

This guy leaped into the deep-end of the pool without even knowing how to swim! I remember a Connecticut lottery winner who opened up a trust and had a bunch of lawyers from the firm he hired to collect the check and do the press conference. You should've seen these guys in suits smugging it up for the camera, hahaha!!

This is why lottery winners should remain anonymous, or at the very least there should be some built-in mechanism in place to enable the winner to keep as low a public profile as possible. I believe if you win the Powerball in Jersey, the information is made public whether the winner likes it or not, but I don't know if holding up a giant check for the whole world to see is part of the deal. Posing with a giant check is never a good initial first sign.

And the child support issue may be just the tip of the iceberg. He's got five kids but I'm not sure by how many women. Those are built-in potential problems right there. As for the child support, it's not the amount that matters, it's the problems with the legal system that may arise if his child's mother decides to sue him for further increased payments.

And to ensure her future, his current wife could file for divorce and get half before he blows it all, plus alimony payments and child support.

But Pedro's done a great job making a spectacle of himself so far, even telling someone over the phone he wanted the person to come over to help him count all the money-all while being filmed.

Like I said before, it's nobody's business how he spends his money, but it will be hard to put a stop to all the jackassery now that he's fully engaged in making sure everyone knows he's rich. And when he goes back to the DR, he will probably never know a moment's peace. Jarabacoa's waiting for him, and not in a good way.

The one thing to avoid in a situation like this is all the people with their hands out pidiendo, pidiendo, pidiendo. And when the good will runs out (and it will quickly) he will be left with a lot of angry friends and relatives who will wind up hating his guts, because whatever he gives them will never be enough.

This is why my method of collecting makes perfect sense. Let one of your relatives make act stupid on camera. I will be sitting on the beach reading it through new tablet sipping iced cold drink.

This is NOT a bad thing winning the lottery, so why are you trying to turn something great in his life to something bad. Okay he owes 29,000USD in child support he can pay it all back now.

The only advice I will give Pedro is NEVER let anyone have you to believed that you did not deserve this, because you deserve every penny you won. You played Power Ball like everyone paid your 2 dollars and hoped you numbers came up.

The bottom line is the money belongs to him and he can blow it, invest it, donate it, save it etc. Its HIS MONEY to due with as he please.

BTW One of the BIGGEST problem with human beings is they worry about other people's money.

Our daughter is a NJ Probation Officer, she worked in Child Support for years before switching to Adult Supervision. Talked to her last night, and she says the fact that he owes the child support should never have been released, it's privileged information. Secondly, NJ has in place a system that would have **automatically** taken that money from his winnings without all the fanfare.

Furthermore, she tells me there is a pending legislation in NJ that will allow NJ Lottery winners to withhold their identity. She hopes they'll use him as a prime example of media gone wild, approve it and get it to the governor's desk for signature.

I'm not there, but she says the media and commentators have been brutal to this guy. The whole immigrant angle. How dare a youngish immigrant win??? It should be a greyhaired old one-foot-in-the-grave old lady who is going to pay her grandchildren's college with it.

Powerball is a multi state lottery and NJ can pass whatever rules they see fit for their own lottery winners, but as of now, all powerball winners are required to be outed so to speak. This lends credibility to the game that there actually is a real winner....and the publicity, for the lottery, is priceless.

Only a handful of states allow winners names and likenesses to be kept silent.

My office has had the distinct pleasure of representing two lottery winners over the past years and I can tell you unequivocally that those people lives have changed....not always for the better.

There are a multitude of things this gentleman should do.....the very first is disappear from the public radar screen. I do not mean lay low. I mean disappear, change all his phone numbers, have those numbers registered to his legal counsel. Any trail that he leaves will be found.

Found by the thousands (yes thousands) of money requests he will receive worldwide. Having experienced this twice, it is rather intense for at least the first year. One client quietly and legally changed her name and left the area. There is a huge checklist of things he now should do....lets hope he gets the right advice.

I know some may find it hard to believe, but after the euphoria it becomes a difficult, albeit a financially comfortable, life.

The "Mega Million" is also a multi-state lottery and some states do allow their winners of "Mega Millions" stay anonymous, i.e. the three public school employees who won over 200 million and held the jumbo check to cover their faces while wearing matching black gloves and red sweatshirts. Also, the check was made out to "The Three Amigos". I don't see Powerball being any different if NJ passes the so called "anonymity bill"

I also 100% agree with you as this individual life is practically over, in the sense that he will have to become a total different person just to maneuver threw the shark infested waters. He has to move (never to return), change his number, like you said disappear! I think going to the DR is also a very bad and risky move without PROPER planning.

People will kill him for that money, so he better tread lightly. The days of sitting on milk crates playing dominos in front of the local bodega is OVER! If I won the lottery? I will probably cry at the press conference, you know, say goodbye to my family and loved ones, lol.

I see the idea of changing your name and going into witness protection will work, jeeeesh, smh!

With five kids already, child support arrears,ex girlfriends demanding an increase,he would be wise to have a vasectomy.He runs the risk of impregnating more girlfriends and his new found wealth will be gone in 3 years tops!

Good analogy. It certainly is like going into the witness protection program.

Unfortunately, most do not....and the lottery winners highway is littered with bankruptcy, suicide, and murder for hire plots. In fact there is one lottery winner who won multiple times (how lucky is that).......and lost his fortune, not once, but twice.

It is a blessing....and a curse.....all at the same time.

Enough doom and gloom. Let's go over all the nice things this money will purchase for Pedro and his family-

1) Liposuction, botox and plastic surgery for his wife and daughters. Unlimited time at the salon to get their hair and nails done. Shopping at Lord and Taylor's. No more Mandee to the rescue.

2) A nice apartment on the Malec?n, a nice finca en el campo and a jeepeta or two.

3) Baja-panty sedans/SUVs for his son/s. Unlimited sexual conquests. Plenty of high-character university model types who'll behave like whores when they're in the presence of cats who are loaded, just like barrio chicas do. Don't get it twisted.

4) Jewelry and expensive clothing for everybody.

5) Non-stop partying where they will be the center of attention, with plenty of Johnnie Walker Black flowing.

6) Travel to anywhere on Earth first class, staying in the best hotels and eating at the finest restaurants. No back-packing through Europe and sleeping in grungy youth hostels for this crew.

There seems to be a not-so-subtle undercurrent of resentment towards Pedro, hoping he winds up broke in a couple of years. He doesn't necessarily need to live down to the typical stereotype of the out-of-control Lottery winner just because many people want him to.

He may not have handled the publicity as well as he could have so far, but you can't blame him for succumbing to the pressure when instant fame comes knocking on the door of an anonymous working-class schlub.

The money he owes in child support is going to be garnished from the payoff, so he doesn't have to do the right thing. It's going to be done for him.

I do not know why all the hate toward Pedro, because if JMB773 won it would not have ended well for many DR1 members.

First I would have kept 36,000,000USD for myself and my family thats all we need no more , no less. Now with the rest that is were the fun starts.

I would turn all of those upper class barrios in Santo Domingo and Santiago into some of the so called lower class barrios. I would drive through many neigborhoods like Los Mina, Villa Duarte, Guachupita, Villa Francisco etc and ask people do they want a new house in Santiago. I would buy all these Dominicans new homes in some of the GREAT places in Santiago with furniture. All I asked is they NEVER turn down the music and never stop partying and I will supply a endless amount of water ballons and if you see any expats in Santiago throw water ballons at them until they are soaked.

Also I would pay for them to hangout in some of the upscale places in Santiago, BUT NEVER dress to fit in Air Jordan shoes, shinny tee shirts, gold chains etc.

Oh yeah!! everybodys gets a brand new sound system for their cars LOL, and once a month I will supply paintball guns and ever expat should come home looking like a rainbow.

I will make some trips to Santiago just to make sure my money is being spent well and sometimes I will ride with some Dominicans in a car full of whip cream pies and if I see an expat I will say" go throw a pie in that guys face"or go rip his shirt off his back LOL

Then JMB773 will just sit back and watch all the threads start to come in because of JMB773 winning the lottery and they would not know why all these Dominicans are throwing water ballons at them LOL

36 million is all I need and labor in DR is so cheap so this will go on for years in Santiago.

So thank Pedro for winning and stop hating on him because I would have sat back in Palo Alto CA and turned upper class Dominicans into the very people they dislike.
