I know people that have had their fingerprints taken, overstayed many months and returned with no problems.

What does fingerprints have to do with overstaying computer already brings up your profile when scanned in and outs of country ..nothing they have info already!all they are doing now is merging your fingerprints with passport Riva...

Nothing I suppose. Nor is anything else going to change according to some.

I understand the reason for finger print scanning is that in the future your fingerprints will be used as your ID to get you through customs and immigration more quickly by only using your fingerprints.

I have been in and out of the country about 6-7 times in the last year and half. I have had my fingerprints recorded three times.

The answer to the question is the whole reason for this thread
And nobody knows an answer but many are convinced that something is afoot

All murky and nebulous at best

Sparked by those with financial ties to said topic, and spread by that notorious source of all reliable news....Facebook.

You seem to travel abroad frequently as I do. Are you aware how long the fingerprint technology has been functioning in SDQ? This is not in place for tourists who stay until day 35 or 60. Please tell me you do recognize this reality.

Facebook? Add to that all the other social neworking sites and probably another 5-6 Dominican expat web forums. I've even seen warnings on Trip Advisor!

It would be amazing if these people were more significant in their home countries. Maybe they would not have left for RD.

There have been more posters banned from this webforum, than have been denied entry to RD for previously overstaying a 30 day tourist card. Use this sole thread as an example.

Call me crazy....

What I have gleaned from this feeble thread is that tourists are safe...
Interlopers might not be

I was at Immigration today... asked a few questions

Was there not a golf course you would have rather spent the day enjoying, rather than taking a walk to the immigration office for a matter which you yourself have stated does not impact you?
What would the definition of interloper be?

Has it not been stated numerous times within this almost 700 post thread that tourists have nothing to be concerned about, but yet it keeps getting mowed down by several posters who can not admit they are wrong? Now here you state the very same thing everybody else has been attempting to communicate as the reality of the situation. Interlopers beware. Yes. Tourists overstaying a 30 day tourist card. No.

Too wry. We must hit the links one morning, followed by lunch.

But William you clearly seem to assert that "we all" (not me) understand the D.R. Gov is fine with snow birds but have a problem with what you label as "Chronic overstayers"? I just asked for some support of where this assertion comes from ? I contend that it comes from the same place that espouses to the opinion that soon all overstayers will soon be declined re-entry to the DR when trying to return.
I can give you the source of both. It is DR1, on this thread and others like it.

But it really, really, really will be the next time that you are denied.
