This is a pizza in the style I grew up with. Virtually everyone from my hometown that has tried every pizza they can find throughout the world says they have not found better pizza elsewhere. I know I have not.

The $hitiest pizza I ever had, I ate it in Germany off of an Italian Restaurant - what an oxymoron!

Haha! No chance. I’m related to the original owner of Patsy’s Pizzeria on First Ave & 117th. Gives me irrevocable status. Also means I know good pizza.

I’m just open minded :)

Patsy's pizza is the best being related is like being a member of the royal family of pizza makers.

i've had it. only never saw it branded as pizza. i think in tostacos in PP it's called chankleta? and that venezuelan place in PP also has similar dish called patacon, a deep fried platano sandwich thingy. very greasy.

Ha, funny anecdote: one of my best friends from Uni is Italian, like real Italian from Napoli, he and his dad rage and rant about NY style pizza like NYers here about the plantain pizza ??????
So maybe it is just about perspective and where you come from.
Me personally, after watching the video, I have no plans to try the plantain pizza. Ever.

Dominicans eat almost everything, I mean who with a reasonable taste eats Pizza Hut or Domino's stuff.

anything that's cheap you mean or free

Dominos is not cheap. I had one here in San Pedro that cost about $1000 DOP. No thanks ever again. I can wait 6 months to get back to the USA for real pizza.

Anyone looking for real Italian Pizza in Punta Cana, Bavaro area only need to go Punta Italia just past the San Juan Mall on the way towards Barcelo Hotels. Brick oven, Italian owned and ran by two guys from Trieste in Italy.

And you will never beat the price they charge anywhere or any chain.

Are these not franchise shops originated within the US of A, and operate globally?

It seems as it has been the North American crowds who have been requesting more "fast food" alternatives close to tourist locales rather than the RD populace.

Yes, you get the same garbage in the US that you get here if you are dumb enough to go there................

kinda true but the all time worst here in the DR is Pizza House.!! I might even take the plantain pizza over theirs
Yes, yes, say it again. One of my Dominican acquaintances LOVES Pizza House. I always demur and take her to Domino's on Carr. Mella near Mega Centro. Yes, I would be inclined to take the plantain creation--I will NOT call it the "p" word--over Pizza House.

Not one American Fast food chain in sosua or cabarette. Santiago is flush with them. Anytime I am dragged to one, by my Dominican family, they are full of Dominicans. So its definitely Dominicans keeping them open.

I am however, looking foward to trying TGIFriday here. Shameful I know. But it is what it is.

All of these chains are crap to me.

I am ashamed to say this. I tried Pala pizza with the cheese crust and actually enjoyed it. Now, it was after a day in drinking in La Vega during Carnival, so I am sure that had something to do with it. Anybody else like Pala Pizza?

I have to chuckle at some of the things I read on here at times and I wonder just how isolated some of you appear to live in DR. You can get delicious, authentic italian pizza in DR at Italian-owned establishments, all or most of these places are easily found on social media or are in easily accessible neighborhoods in SD, Santiago and other major tourist areas like PC.

Quite a few of you need to get out a little more or get with the times and use more social media, at least to follow or learn about the many fine dining options available in DR.
