Grammatically speaking una dominicana/un dominicano is an adjective. You omit the obvious noun that it is describing: Una [mujer] dominicana/un [hombre] dominicano.

Unlike Spanish, in English you can't say "A Polish" or "An English" - you either add the word 'man' or 'woman' or you use the gentilic Pole or Englishman (a bit archaic) or you use the adjective without the article. He is Polish, she is English.

what problem? dominikana and dominika in polish, dominicana and dominica in spanish.

yes, chiri, and that's because there is no real relation there. that is czech republic is not a part of english/spanish speaking community and does not influence how the language changes to accommodate simplification. in polish czech republic is called czechy and czechs call is česko.

I'm tiredof correcting people from other countries from calling it the Dominican.
Doesnt really bother me anymore but I prefer Dominicana . My new word of the day:smoke:

But there is a country named Dominica and it is a different island, that is part of the name problem.
