One may have moved from its place on the table. However it means this cave dweller can still handle two drinks at the same time. lol

Guaymate

Been observing USGS quake website daily for years and it seems the Guaymate area-Central Romana cane fields, is a hotbed of quakes.

Wondering why ? Cannot find a map recording a fault line near there.

Earthquakes do not always occur along a fault line but often do. Away from fault lines, the ground can still be moving. If this moment is in opposition to the the movement of an adjacent area of land or if the area of movement is comprised of softer rock, the movement over time can build up enough localized force that fractures the bedrock.

Refer to the 2nd map and notice how the area around La Roman is in a wedge of land that is diverging. It would appear from the past quake history, one can assume that there is a weak spot to the north of La Roman that slips when the frictional coefficient reduces to the point that the weak spot is no longer sufficiently compressed.

Just my guess, I'm not a seismologist.

Not sure if fake, supposedly Barahona (bit far from Boca de Yuma though...) same guy posted the Bavaro road pic on Fb.

Somebody can confirm if this was from the quake from today?

I saw that.

Shenanigans?

I don't recognize that stretch of road.
