Frank12, don't let these nattering nabobs of negativity bother you. A lot of them have been in the tropical sun without a lid for far too long.

Well, Lindsey, it would be disingenuous to say he buys drinks for every single person who walks into his bar or sits with him. but if you are a regular, and you shoot the sh1t with him enough, he will buy you a drink. He loves conversation, and he loves stories.

Sorry you didn't recognize my attempt at humor above. I'm not looking for a free drink from Frank. I consider Frank a friend.
I wish him the best and look forward to visiting him next time I'm down.

BTW, I'm not sure Frank would be comfortable with you and SKY telling everybody about free drinks. I'm just saying....

Ok, first, even if you do not know Big Frank, and you walked into his bar and sat down with him to shoot the sh1t, it's doubtful that you would pay for half of your drinks anyway. Anyone who has sat with Big Frank, conversed with him, watched football with him, will walk away screwing him over...because he won't let you pay for much.

HE's at his bar to shoot the ****, tell stories, listen to stories, get to know you, and watch girls and sports....in that order. He doesn't give a sh!t about giving away a beer here, or a drink there. What he really lives for is conversation, getting to know people, having a drink, and having fun. He's not there to try and nickel and dime anyone.
Sounds like I will be spending a lot of time there come January, I like to drink, I like to talk, I like to drink & talk, find out the more I talk & drink the more I get free, I may never leave. But then again I have issues just getting off the beach in Cabarete

Wow you guys will fight over any little thing. So what the menu is in dollars, you pay it in pesos. Thank God most of you cranky ass people wont be there,so I can enjoy my cold beer without your bitching and moaning over the menu. Some people on DR1 need to get some hobbies, and enjoy life. SMFH

POSTED BY Frank12 - "There is some signs of real insanity going on here..."

Take heed as I for one believe Frank12 to be an expert on insanity!

I stopped in when up in Sosua the other day and it looks like Big Frank has the place in shape including a bran new kitchen. My buddy Don who used to make those great wings down at Spankys will be a fill in chef a few days the week.
I am sure Big Frank will do great and look forward to visiting.
I remember watching Pacquiao vs De la Hoya there when Lou had it a few years back.

Best of luck to you Frank!

It’s just a bad business idea, I am shocked he did that.
Menus should be redone imo.
Automatically I thought they are looking for tourists I’m outta here.

Keep in mind these are single use paper menus. You tick the box of what you want and hand it to your a waitress. They dont plan to have many staff as is a small place for this reason rather than going back n forth asking people if they are ready to order, you just check a box and hand it off.

Reprinting the menu has nothing to do with anything. All stock is paid in pesos not American dollars. If suppliers raise their prices he has to reprint menus either way. The price of chicken fluctuates almost weekly by a few pesos. One week you win and the other week you lose. Nobody is reprinting menus constantly or even yearly.

Did you read my earlier post before your assumption? He exports all meat from USA.

Rocky's & O'shay's did the same thing. We got all our red meat and hamburger from the US. Always have. You cannot depend on the consistency of DR meat....except for chicken.

Some people saw the logic of it, but then, you have people on tight budgets that complained about our prices non-stop.

What can you do?

As for Rockys' he failed to make a payment and got the place repossessed after fixing it up, such as that was. So that is one thing you can do. Not a recommended way to go no matter how many times you say the beef is imported from the US (or wherever), there is a lot more to making a place a success.

Or you can charge in USD and see if enough people care enough not to go there because of it. One can do whatever they want that is not illegal in a restaurant and bar business and sometimes it works. Most of the time it doesn't. The bottom line cost will be what they remember and if the food, drink and environment are all positive they might return.

Most of the critics here live on the other side of the island, would probably not go to the bar anyways or are in town only a couple weeks a year...

The burgers at O'shays were very good and worth a bit extra...imho

I do live in Sosua and am sure I'll stop for a burger at some point. My only beef (no bun intended) is the place has zero parking and I like to pull up to a place, sometimes with my lady y hijastra, and eat have a beer then go home.
This isn't an option for quick in and out as you probably have to park some distance East, plus it's located in hooker central which I try to avoid.
Not to mention the screaming motos constantly passing.
I wish the pub well but a little further East on PC would have seemed a better spot for locals to frequent.

Where do you get that from? Most of the critics I see here definitely live on the north coast and spend quite a lot of time in Sosua.

Well they be broadcasting UFC (like McGregor vs Nurmagomedov) & Pro Boxing (like GGG vs Canelo) since it is a sports bar ?
Russians would love to see those two events big time & the Irish of course it's their hero
