Ha! Guy's is there anything around that is more important then how much a Sports bar's cost's? This is getting old. If you don't like it don't go. Come on guys. You can go to Jolly Rodgers, Bailey's etc. I've been here for while. There are more important things.

No, not important. And yet you've contributed with 4 comments. C'mon guy. If you don't like the thread, don't read it (and help keep it alive with comments). I would never do that ... waaaait ... never mind. Anyway, I'll check the place out ... it sounds interesting.

OK this post is meant as constructive criticism not quejando.
I've eaten twice at FMCs. I'm a local.

The burger is OK - it won't win any best of awards or even honorable mention for people who like top self burgers. Price acceptable. Why? It comes smashed in a brown paper bag.
The fries - I can go to 4 places on PC with way better. They were soggy, some burned and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Didn't eat but a few no one will.

Here's what could make the dining better
Serve the food in a burger basket on wax paper like a normal burger bar with the lettuce onion and pickles off the burger. I am not going hiking I don't want my meal including the greasy fries in a brown paper sack. It is not a catchy gimmick. It shouts out Barrio Bar too cheap to buy restaurant accoutrements. Someone change the fry oil and learn how to serve them as well.

And last time I was in there it took me saying something to get served. Neither the manager or two waitresses offered me service for a full 4 minutes sitting at the bar, till I spoke up.
Manager to busy too looking at the computer to manage service for someone literally 3' in front of him - to me that's a fail.
Girls more interested in yaking than serving, should ask themselves where their tips come from ? Hint next time I'll walk out if this is typical service but I gave them new bar glitch credit.
Someone advise me when they ditch the tacky brown paper bags - then I'll eat there again - but not those soggy fries if that's their ongoing fare.

Just went there for lunch. The tv's were all showing sports. Frank was there, chatty as usual. The place was clean and nice. Frank mentioned that business was slow. But most places are slow this time of year and especially on a raining afternoon.

We both had Philly cheese steaks. They were HUGE and delicious. No other restaurant serves cheese steaks as authentic as these. I also ordered their homecut fries. The portion was quite small for $3.00, but as it turned out, the sandwich was so huge that I could eat only half and could not finish the fries. No malt vinegar was on hand.

The bill for both cheese steaks, one beer, fries, and two waters was 1,300 pesos. Maybe just a tad more than we would have paid in Bologna, Margot's, or other better restaurants in the Batey.

Truly, I cannot find anything to be critical about. We have only a few "go-to" restaurants in Sosua for lunches or casual dinners. Now, we will have one more.

Lindsey

To compare: We would go to Bologna twice a week 15 years ago then management changed. Tried a couple of times but OFF our list.

1,300 pesos for a GOOD meal sounds great.

They take Dominican Peso's?

I was there twice. You want the truth or some made up silly talk. Go and see yourself

I think your report is good. Big Frank wants to hear any and all criticisms. That's the only way to fine tune & fix things. He was in Santiago today, so he is sorry what happened. He got back to the restaurant at 4pm, and is there now. He says, please, stop back in, try it again, and be sure to introduce yourself and sit down with him. He's not the type of guy who would ever get angry over any constructive criticism. He'll just fix it. The way it should be.

So, thanks to you for that.

Well customer service is paramount. When someone walks in find out what they want within the first 30 seconds - usually it's a drink while they look around or look at the menu. Never make the customer ask for service.

There's other places on the north coast that have prices in dollars. Let's see if anyone can figure out which ones they are. Hint: one of the places is in Sosua and has fantastic, but very expensive food. I've posted lots of photos of their food on my FB page before. A few people will know which place it is.

And of course, in Santo Domingo, there are several places with prices in dollars.

Just because other places do it, it does not make it "right". Didn't your mother explain this type of logic to you when you were a wee laddie ?

Many international restaurants and hotels display their charges in multiple currencies

It’s not a slight to the host country but a service to the patron

True, but in this case the menu is in USD only because of the great complexity involved in the rapidly changing FOREX rate between the USD and DOP, causing this one restaurant and a couple of others to think different, and then the bill comes with the various payment options. Similar, but different.

I know you are new. All I'am saying is that the rate on the bill is what it is. Most of the Rest' give you diff. rates. I've gone to O'shey's for years. Ask Frank or Frank 12. I don't know why people keep beating on this. For your count this is post 5. If you have to keep track of these things. you need to go to the sports bar and post a review. I really hope you have a great day.

Skip, when are you back in Cabarete?

Stop into Frank's place and say Hi to him and try his sandwiches. His Philly Cheese Steaks are supposed to be unbeatable. Let us know!
