All I know it that there has been a HUGE sweep of the island over the last year ,,, HUGE busts. IF they let the drugs get in, it was most likely to follow the trail and pick up who was running them on the streets. I KNOW that they have gotten the dealers out of Las Terreanas (not to say that they will not be back. but there is no LOCAL demand for coke.. and there is NO foreign demand for CRACK. The issue is the Crack and the fact that the dealers pay in product. The drugs that were coming in from Bani and the Haitian border (and only a very small percentage were coming in from Haiti) had cut right through all the way up to Monti Christi, leaving coke and crack addicts in its wake.
But last August they started a sweep from Pedernales on.
