I was quite the explorer in my day. I've visited every town in the country at least once except for Monti Cristi, and I've been itchin' to drive up there now that I've got some free time. :D
lol, i been somewhere here you haven't been.

I've actually been there twice, one by accident when I confused the batey Monti Christi north of San Pedro with the city Monte Christi.

We stayed there a couple of days a few years ago. Nice hotel right on the water, like condos. Enjoyed a few restaurants too.

Very Nice Photos Miami DR Guy , I did not know you were so Fascinated by Abandoned Places ... I get it now , it can be a Real addiction.
I have also watched Hours of Videos on u tube about abandoned Places .. Hotels , Factories , Mansions, etc etc

I had incorrectly assumed before that you were trying to say these type of places can be easily rebuilt or someone is already doing that >?
Like from a Business opportunity Point of View ..

Sorry for that misunderstanding earlier.

Yes I got addicted when I started watch several on youtube and it got me addicted. If there any building is abandoned, its almost impossible to restore it. The best way is to demolish it then re built from scratch because of asbestos and mold.... Too dangerous.

Dont be sorry but feel free to ask and we will all answer any questions

There are many vacant hi-rise buildings in Santo Domingo that are crumbling. They should be on the science channel show "Mysteries of the Abandon". Some literally have trees and shrubs growing out of cracks in the concrete 10 floors up.

Remember the one that was built, and it was leaning? It sat there for quite a while, just a shell of a building. I can't remember the name right now.

Might as well throw up a picture of Playa Caribe Caliente while we're at it. (Yep, stayed there too.)

Nudist beach that tried to get off the ground various times but never was sustainable.

Back when I stayed there, it wasn't really open but the two condo towers on the right seemed to be fairly full of permanent residents (mostly older folks)

No idea what the status is now, but the location is killer.

There was a big fight over ownership between a General who lived in the house to the far left, and big Mike, the owner of the Golden Dolphin villa.

If you got even a little close to the general's house, he'd come out with a shotgun and tell you to get lost. (Ask me how I know)
I don't know what happened with that either.

Is the issue with all of these abandoned places simply developers running out of money? Dirty money that got busted? Ownership issues? I look at these pictures and see hundreds of millions of dollars rotting in the sun. Being the tightwad that I am I just can't get over how a developer can allow this to happen.

Lol....no not that one.... There was a building in Santo Domingo (I want to say on the Malecon) that was built but it was "leaning". It stayed an empty shell for a while. There was no fixing the structural issue.
That's a common misconception. It's not leaning. There are other issues.

You mean the one that the builders omitted a major support beam in the center of the structure? They had to stop construction, and no way to “insert” it.
