IMO ( if I am allowed to speak, cuz some here like vanilla Cielo seem to think they are the arbitrators of what is acceptable to say and not say or discuss)

IMO , the Parents are making a very intelligent Move.
Covering all their Bases, Im sure they have a very Sharp Lawyer advising them at every step.
Rest assured they are not DONE with this Case .
The Strategy could be one of Many
1)- Possible massive Lawsuits,
2)- Show what is in Legal terms called " without Prejudice," so when new evidence emerges, they can go full bore with a Civil Suit ... there will never be Criminal
" Justice" in the DR in such a case anyway, no matter how she Died , or who is responsible . or how much proof there is of any Foul play.
Have we not learned that right here when it played out in front of us before with a real Pre Meditated Murder ?
Maybe the Parents read that Story , which is a worst case scenario for them.

The parents are being very systematic.. this case is far from over .

What ? The President of the DR AND the parents of the poor girl would know more than our DR1 experts ?
How dare you ?
I know, it's a very controversial thing to say :) What the sports talk shows call a "hot take!"

I think the case is over, for all intents and purposes. but that is just me who thinks a body will never be found.
And of Course everyone is entitled to their Opinion on the matter .
and we have no reason to argue about it ...
I think we ALL hope the Body is Found, cuz only that will truly give the Parents real Closure, as painful as it will be when it happens .

From just posted on DR1 News......

In a new development, Diario Libre reported on its 18 March issue that the parents of Konanki have sent a letter to the Police giving their view that Riibe is telling the truth and their daughter drowned. They are asking the Police to declare the death of their daughter.

Dominican Republic
"Yo juro por la patria, cumplir y hacer cumplir la Constitución y las Leyes de la República, y ejercer mis funciones con lealtad y justicia."

This oath reinforces the Dominican Republic's sovereignty and the responsibility of its elected and appointed officials to uphold the Constitution and laws of the Dominican Republic with loyalty to justice; and in no way suggests with loyalty or consideration of emotional parents, religious beliefs or external international pressures. Imagine being in that position, to cave to an emotional set of external pressures after first being under pressure by the same external factors to ramp up and double efforts in the case's solution. IMO, you can't come into my house, fire up a sh*t storm and not expect me to deal with it swiftly and definitively.

Despite the lofty ideals of Justice written in the Dominican Constitution, criminal justice and its interpretation and application by the DR justice system can result in many different outcomes. An MLB Dominican player kills a child while drunk and firing off his gun during New Year’s Eve celebrations. Because of money and position, he walks after paying the child’s parents $500,000 US. I suspect the PIvot Airlines crew, never formally charged, were released after enough money passed through enough hands. Just two examples of the vagaries of DR justice. The DR1 threads contain many of these examples.

I agree. If her family took the time to research DR investigation and justice outcomes or their lawyers did, I have no doubt they came to the harsh realization that, without her body being found, this would turn into an open ended emotional nightmare and justice wouldn’t be served. Far better to grieve, recoup, and refocus their efforts on a more positive outcome. Money and the ability to hire high powered legal resources doesn’t appear to be a problem for them. The case, at least from a legal perspective, is far from over where her family is concerned.

As Logau said, “The mills of the gods grind slowly but they grind exceedingly fine“. The family will get justice on their own terms eventually.

The AG has taken an oath. If they shut it down and Sudiksha's body, for example, is found buried somewhere down the line, well that's incompetence. Furthermore:

"Dominican Republic law does not require the public ministry to comply with the victim’s family’s request to stop an investigation or declare a death accidental, particularly for serious crimes. The public prosecutor has the discretion to continue, ensuring justice and public interest are served, with the family’s role limited to participation and input, not decision-making."
True, but I think the family's opinion here reflects what they've been told by the AG and other authorities. I think worst case today is that they will hold Riibe's passport a little while longer and ban him from leaving the country.

It does appear that if one does not support the drunk/accidental drowning hypothesis, you will, in fact, be gaslit from hell to breakfast.

Please learn how to use Contractions.

"You're" is a contraction meaning "you are," while "your" is a possessive adjective indicating ownership or belonging.

You're Welcome.
You clearly understood what he was communicating, errors aside, so his communication was clear enough and effective.

Not to be a Nit picker
but I was not aware of him even being charged with anything .
Not Charged yes .. but cleared of wrong doing ?
Proven , how ?

"Cleared of any wrongdoing" means that someone has been proven or declared innocent of any accusations or charges of having done something wrong.

The stunning came upon when he hired a real lawyer and filed for this hearing. He was clearly held illegally. The limit here is 48 hours without a court appearance and lawyer............

Old news. Here is the latest just posted 3:11 PM Listin Diario

I am focussed on what the relevance of the $50K claim has to do with the case. As it is, one cannot bring in more than $10K into the DR without declaration/scrutiny and this claim has appeared in other media as well but without explanation as to its relevance.

Thanks, yes, I did see that also but it has no mention of the $50K. The media were kicked out of the hearing.

This is minutes ago live report from the Courtroom

03/18/2025 4:28 PM | Updated 03/18/2025 4:28 PM American Joshua Steven Riibe, investigated in the disappearance of Indian-born student Sudiksha Konanki, testified before the court during the hearing for his habeas corpus petition that he has been accompanied by police at all times. The 22-year-old stated, through an interpreter, that since they first saw him, his passport and phone have been taken away, and that "he is very rarely alone." He even stated that last Sunday, when he went to lunch unaccompanied by the court, prosecutors' staff became "upset" because he was supposed to be in his room. He then joined them for lunch and remained under the custody of Politur police. He added that in recent days, after interrogations and interviews, prosecutors' staff have remained with him during breakfast and lunch. Riibe stated that he tried to leave the hotel complex for a meeting at the U.S. Embassy, which his father had notified him of in advance. However, they had to remain until the police allowed them to leave. He added that on that occasion, he was escorted to and from the embassy, and on the way back to the hotel, where he went to eat and was also interviewed, and "between one thing and another, I was under guard." The young man stated that he has no communication whatsoever; he must remain in his hotel room all the time, waiting for someone to come and get him. He concluded by saying that he just wants to be home and with his family, since his passport has been impounded for the past 10 days and he has been prevented from leaving the country. Preventive habeas corpus, unlike traditional habeas corpus, seeks to protect a person from possible illegal or arbitrary detention.
