The US Embassy has always been involved from the beginning. Whenever an issue with a US citizen arises, they are notified, whether they do something, or help is another story.

Agreed, what I mean is this level of involvement cited, above not that common for citizens caught up in legal processes to have an "in embassy" meeting, it could be for any number of reasons. The embassy usually observes the process if at all:

Not surprised. Justice has to be seen to be done, even in cases where significant doubt still lingers due to a missing body.

This is what I have observed on this thread, everyone had their opinions, thoughts, etc... People made some good points and observations both for and against. The bottom line is I think we all wanted the young woman to be found, and we still do.

It certainly did . It locked in and documented HIS STORY , his version of events.

And if the DR Govt gives them the Death Certificate, they will also be locked in to the Accidental Drowning Story.
If anything changes either of those 2 assumptions of No Foul Play , they have a Massive Lawsuit , and the DR will have a major PR Disaster on their hands.
