Can a straight guy find a little extra curicular activity at Jack Tar Village?

This message is to everyone (recently many) who want to know if it is hard to find "extra curricular" activities while in the DR. The answer is a resounding NEVER!!! Look - there are lots of willing locals (men and women), not to mention tons of willing tourists who are also there to have fun. With respect to Jack Tar Village, in particular, yes it is an adults only resorts but its not like Hedonism in Jamaica or anything BUT there are lots of single (or married) women staying there that you can surely hook up with (try the resort disco after 11:00 p.m.). If you aren't finding any action with your fellow guests, go into Puerto Plata to a local disco and you will have plenty of luck there if all you want is some "extra curricular" activity.

Volleyball and Hockey were extracurricular activites when I was in school but I think it is too hot for ice hockey in the DR. So...........

If you mean other than trying to pick up fellow tourists (or less subtly, prostitutes) there are piles of them in POP. They are not actually piled up , there's lots - that's what I mean.

They will watch with a tear in their eye when you get back to Jack Tar and they cannot follow you inside since of course AI's don't allow "guests" aka hookers to come back to the resort, as they are not willing to allow them the harvest of free booze and food. There may be moral issues but really it is the booze and food they are protecting.

So...you have to find a short time ( smelly, hot) hotel or another hotel that you rent along with your AI experience.

Buena suerte!

Really!

Surely the chicas have found a way to get into the resorts.... And, surely the resort guests are entitled to guests. It's not like one would be trying to get free food and booze right?..............

I'm sure it is possible to sneak someone in and perhaps the odd guard can be bribed, although I wouldn't think they would want to risk the severe consequences of getting caught, but the resorts are very strict about this policy.
The casino door at Jack Tar is not always guarded and I have seen the guard at Paradise passed out a couple of times.

The only guests you can invite to your room are ones who are also staying at that resort.

The Paradise allows guests to bring in friends for $50US.
You can get a decent room in town for far less.

If you have one of the timeshare apartments at Paradise, up to 3 guests are welcome free, but the food and drinks are extra and optional.

The Jack Tar disco is a dead zone because locals and other tourists are not allowed in.

Check out Hemingway's at the plaza and the Crazy Moon at Paradise.

In town you might like to check out Mountainview, Cristal's, El Bohem, and Luz Maria, so I have heard.

Surely not.
And surely not again.
And wrong-o, matey.

The chicas get punted like footballs if they try - gate guards, door guards, lobby staff, etc. Hence the colored wristbands.

Guests are entitled to PAYING guests , e.g. US$50 and up per day surcharge. And if registered as guests by name etc. as well, so it is really quite pointless to bring girls back into AI's. I assume some may actually be concerned about image but in reality it's the money. I would think bribing the guards would fail, unlike say customs or the police, ironically enough.

Huh!

I'm a guest and I'll entertain who I want! I don't expect the resort to provide AI food/drinks to non-guests but I'll bring along anyone I want to... I'm not being unreasonable. Just want to do as I please without issue...it's my money I'm spending afterall...

Well their POV is that it is their money you are spending. No wristband no admission. Once you are inside it is free food and drinks for all whether that's your intention or not , thus the mission of the guards is to prevent that.

If you want to spend your money (after all) the management will either a) ask for US$50 or $60 depending on the resort or b) kick her out - money or not depending on who she is (the high moral ground places) .

You would not be able to bring , say, visitors who lived in the DR to the resort without paying for a day pass for them and, no big surprise, they cost $50 or $60 as well.

This may shock you but they are not all that new to this sort of thing.

Good luck kinneylo,

Greetings from Atlantic Canada.

At Jack Tar they have been keeping the tourist in and the locals out for over twenty years. They are the oldest resort of the thirteen (fourteen if you count the closed Rhumba Heavens) resorts in the Playa Dorada complex and just might know what they are doing, indignation aside.

Please take you attitude and your chica right in the main gate and let us know when it will happen; maybe we can sell tickets as a once in a lifetime event.

OR

Save yourself the hassle and take your chica to a cabana and have your fun; just remember to play safe.

Gregg

Aside from the fact that you are spending your money, is there some logical reason that you would expect them to ignore the rules just for you?

When I worked for a brief stint at Playa Naco, parents of a friend of mine were staying at the resort, and even I (Canadian) could not go up to their room to visit without getting special permission from the General Manager, so how do you think you could get a local in so easy - it is not possible!!!
Another scenario, when I went back to visit friends that I had worked with at Puerto Plata Village a few months before, I had to wait at the gates for permission to enter from my ex-boss before I was allowed in to see everyone even though the guards knew me by name.
Bottom line, they are strict with everyone, not just the locals. Also, think about what you could be doing to the chica, especially if she works in the resort business - she could be fired for one night of indescretion. Do you want that on your conscience?
You asked us for advice, now you don't want to hear it or believe it !!!!!!! Like everyone said, find a girl, she will know where the cabanas are, since she has probably been to them thousands of times, have your fun, leave it at that.
But do us a favor - if you do not want to heed our advice, go ahead with your plan and come back and post all the details so that we can all say "we told you so" !!!!!
BTW - yes, it is your money, but your rate was for yourself not for additional guests that are not registered. That is why rates are based on occupancy!!

You wont get her in!

But rest assured,I am "phucking" with the guards, and night supervisors for all of you who want to bring "Hookers" into an "All_Delusive"!When my wife and I stay at an "A-D" resort, and come back to the place late at night,I always hold her arm by her wrist, obscuring her "arm band" from the "watchman". My wife is young, beautiful, sexy, and MOST IMPORTANT in this situation, dark complected! The wacthman will say;"She can't come in here!".. I will say "Yes SHE CAN!"..As we continue to walk,he will yell,"Stop,YOU CAN'T BRING HER IN HERE!"He will run backwards in front of us yelling "Stop,Stop!"We continue to walk to the reception desk. When we arrive,I ask the night clerk if the "Wachiman" has lost his mind,or what? The night clerk will insist that I can't bring "HER" in HERE!At this point, depending on how tired I am,I will take the names of all concerned, let go of my wife's wrist allowing them to see her wrist band, and promise to speak to the manager in the morning! And I do!
I go to the manager, without my wife, and act very offended! ( He will think that my wife is a fat old American, like me!)I tell him that I will E-mail the Secretary of Tourism, etc.etc! Now this probably does absolutely no good, but it is nice to make the Dominicans "squirm" a little when the shoe is on their foot!

PS: After re-reading some of the above posts,I must add, that not letting Non-registered "Guests" into the resort at night,is less about "Eating the Buffet",and more about not letting "Hookers" into the resort!Especially "Black Hookers"!

AND...the day passes are good up to only 5:30 or 6PM so if poster has some idea about having someone stay over-forget it. Original poster is just not in the know but will find out quickly the rules of A.I.s

Or smuggle them in the linen cart to your room. In any case, regardless of Mr. I Am THE Guest, you can't do it, don't try, instead get a non AI place on the side or a cabana or don't stay in the AI to start with if your preference / misison is to bang the locals vs. drink and eat with your next door neighbors.

Reason not to use AI's #5 now.

I can give you my personal experience at Jack Tar. I have gone to the resort before to pick something up... walked up to the security gate and walked right through with no questions asked (I had no bracelet on... just flashed a smile). I have also gone there with a "dark" Dominicana friend and we were stopped because she was "obviously" a local and not allowed in. We were both willing to pay for day passes but were turned away and told they were not selling day passes that day because the resort was full and I know for sure it was because they don't want locals in the resort as guests because "God forbid what the 'white' tourists would think". I hate this ignorance and racism but it exists. You are just looking to make what could be a simple plan (go to a cabana) into a nightmare for yourself and your "guest".

Okay, a local thing.

If the girl looks Dominican (i.e. is Dominican) she won't get in. Also, you say you are paying money to stay there so you should be able to do what you want... FYI - just because you are paying does not mean there are no rules in place! Also, if you plan to pick up locals and want to do your own thing... why are you staying at an AI in the first place?

About a year ago we were passing through Puerto Plata and stayed at Jack Tar for two days. As it often happens during those exasperating trips, my nephews like to come visit whereever we happen to be just to say hello and spend the day with us. All we did was give their names at the gate and asked the guard to send them to the dining room upon their arrival. There was no problem with this request, and surely my nephews were able to come in and wait for us to finish breakfast before heading out for the day. Not exactly a long visit, but they were allowed into the dining room.

Perhaps they really were full when my friend and I went but there is a BIG difference between telling the front guard to let your nephews into the resort to visit with you with no problems and having a male guest try to bring a girl back with him at night to stay there the guards aren't that stupid.
