Good restaurants in Punta Cana/Bavaro
I think Jellyfish is priced on par for what you get, and the fact it's on the beach. The food is good, but you do also pay for the view. Posada Gladys is still open and going strong, (as of last week). It remains on my "bucket list" as I still have not gone there, but it's busy during the day with locals, and I've noticed a number of tourists / expats in there at dinner time.
I had lunch in a "local's" place for the first time last week. At Bibiagua, by the parking lot there are two restaurants. One looked like tourist, the other was where all the people who work there were eating. That's where we went. Food was good, and way more than I needed or wanted. In fact I had to tell the woman at the counter to give me less. Prices??? Well, no prices were marked, so I probably paid twice what the locals were paying, but I didn't really care, 440 RD is still cheap for two people.

Oh wow, definately for one of those special nights outWe have a new restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Casino. It is called Simon's Mansion for Kerry Simon. Kerry is a famous chef on the West Coast. It is open to the general public and you do not have to be staying in the hotel to go there Just tell Security that you are going to the Casino, and it is on your left entering the Casino.
High line place, but not cheap. Very nice atmosphere and a varied menu.

Ate a few times at Jellyfish and found it nothing to rave about for the price they charge. They also have a bit of an "attitude" that I did not like. For me Capt. Cooks for fish lays over Jellyfish. Just make sure you get there for lunch and pick your own fish from the bin.

When we went there, we didn't know there were actually two different places. We had been told to try "the place at Bibi" a few times, but were surprised to have to decide between the two. Actually, from a distance it almost looks like one big place... they're so close to each other. The one we ate at was "Annie's" or maybe spelled "Anny's" ... don't know the name of the other place, but we'll try that one too next time. OH... and these AREN'T the places right on the beach or the beach club.
I'm heading to Punta Cana/Bavaro tomorrow for two days. I wondering where are some good places to eat? Sky gave me some good recommendations last week, but i was looking for a few more just in case we get kicked out of the first restaurant we go to. I eat a lot. A whole lot. Too much.
When i was in Bavaro 3 weeks ago, i ate at the Brazilian restaurant...you know the one--where they come around to your table with different kinda of meat until you cannot eat another bite and you finally projectile vomit across the table. That's exactly what happened to me, except that i being the classy person i am, i vomited into the champagne ice bucket next to us. But then i kept eating some more. I was going to get my money's worth one way or another. They finally asked us to leave.
I'm traveling with two Russians, so if you know of any good Russian food...does it even exist? I may send them over to the Russian restaurant and try something different.

You could always get take out from Papi's and just focus on partying when you get there.

CaptnGlenn, I do know which restaurant you mean. I often drove there, parked and did my morning walks, rather than only approaching it from the beach. We've been there around lunchtime a few times too and it looked pretty busy, always a good sign to me that you get good value for money.

I have tried Simons Mansion twice and was impressed - best food I have had in PC.
Last week we tried Chillin' in Plaza Nautica, Cortecito - great Mexican sopes, good service, and the bill comes as a pleasant surprise.

A Venezuelan neighbour went to Titerefue recently and was not impressed with their arepas, also thought it was overpriced.Has anyone tried Titerefue (outside AC Delco plaza)
We ended up going to Balicana for dinner last night - his choice. We really enjoyed our meal and found the prices to be very reasonable for drinks and dinner for two. We will definitely go there again and would recommend it to anyone. We particularly enjoyed the Entree Sampler!
For lovers of Middle Eastern food, there is a decent Lebanese restaurant in Plaza Brisas on Avenida Espa?a in B?varo called Alreis. We ate there today and all our choices got the thumbs up - kibbes (Mr C said they were the best he'd ever eaten), baba ganoush, falafel, and shwarma con Presidente bien fr?a. Excellent service, friendly owners and pleasant setting too.
