Did you know...
Helados Bon was the first to introduce the franchise business in the Dominican Republic.
Helados Bon pioneered social corporate responsibility in the Dominican Republic -- working with macadamia planters to keep the trees in the forest and create profitable farming for others outside the company; also when they launched their coffee ice creams, working with the farmers. They contributed heavily to the Quita Espuela Mountain scientific reserve in Duarte Province (San Francisco de Macoris), a major source of rivers that was hurting badly.
Helados Bon Vainilla Imperial was created when the Jaragua Renaissance reopened for their inauguration, in cooperation with the top management of that hotel.
Helados Bon as a company invested heavily in their staff and today many of these have gone on to become entrepreneurs themselves.
What made the difference was that the Moreno Family never cut corners with quality. It was always quality before profits. Even today, the Colombians have kept the recipes the same.
Helados Bon does not sell in the United States because of the dairy industry restrictions to imports.
Tip: Take a recipe for banana flambee, replace the bananas with very ripe papaya, and use as a topping for Vanilla Imperial. Delicious!
