Definitely different than the US

My sister lives in Den Helder......
I'd suggest a three or four week "visit" before I made any decisions about moving there permanently!
I'd also seriously think about how much your "Dutchie" means to you. If he's "the one" you shouldn't even be asking this question!!!

My Grandparents came from Amsterdam

Do you ice-skate? That is the National Pastime. The food is rather bland. The culture is Very liberal, and socialistic. But what may bother you the most is the constant noise of those damn wooden shoes! "Clop, clop, clop"!Day and night! ....and the "splinters" in your feet! Unbelievable! CcrissCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

No wooden shoes MommC,you must be joking?

Last time I was in Holland, circa 1889,everyone wore wooden shoes! When were you there last?(Don,t tell "MommC"but I was not serious about the "Shoes") I guess "Time-Marches-On"!There goes my idea of selling "Tweezers" to the Dutch!Criss Colon(To remove the "splinters") and I thought "Canadians" had a "Dry" sense of humour!!

The Netherlands

I would say that the Netherlands are pretty awesome! One of my favorite places to visit. The people are friendly and intelligent. The average Dutchman speaks four languages.(Unfortanately Spanish is not one of them.)The Netherlands are a crossroads of Europe.I've met people from all over the world there. They actually have some very nice beach resort areas. The water is not as warm as the Carribean, and they are not year round, but they are very nice none the less. There are a lot of people from the Carribean there.I thought the East indies restaraunts were pretty good.If you like riding bikes this is the place!Millions of them there. They have a good standard of living there.Good education system.Hell I'm talking myself into moving there!

Terry....I may have....

But after seeing all the Irish jokes and knowing a few Scotch jokes myself I think I'll stick with "English"!

See Herman

If you are on the north coast, just go to Siempre Sol on Sosua Beach and see Herman. He's there all the time and will tell you anything you want to know.
