Hi - wife of travelfish here! travelfishspouse??!

We had both iron and ironing board, as well as hairdryer in our room. As my husband mentioned in his post yesterday - our family of 4 had a really lovely holiday. The weather and the beach were great. We never waited for a buffet table, always got a beach chair, at the pools and the beach, had no plumbing problems at all and I found the staff to be lovely, without exception. Some didn't speak much English, but they were pleasant and friendly.

The only complaint I really have is about the system for reserving seats in the a la carte restaurants. I stood in line for about 1 hour - met some nice people, so the line wasn't a big drag - but it was mid afternoon and I would have rather chatted with my new friends poolside - and then was only able to reserve 2 restaurants. It all sounds a bit whiny when I read it over here, but we were supposed to have a dinner in each restuarant (that is 4 dinners if all were open, out of 6, but we could only get 2 and were told to come back and line up again to get the 3rd) I think they need to improve that system, I realize that the 4th restaurant wasn't yet open, but I really don't understand why I should have to line up again another day to get a 3rd . The buffet is fine, but like anything can be a bit tiresome after 4 or 5 days - and also, it means that you or a member of your family is always wandering around getting food - a la carte meant we could all sit together and be served a meal, talk etc - a nice treat. So, not to whine, but I think that system of reseving needs to be changed, every restaurant we were in was half empty, and yet we were told they were full. It was all a bit odd and annoying. OK, enough of that!

Someone asked what time breakfast was started - it was open by 7am for sure, may have been a bit earlier - I am not sure. There is a 24 hour coffee bar as well.

There were 2 pools, and it is true that the part of activity pool was often in use for swim lessons and other things. Most of the time that I was pool side, at least part of the pool was open for use, but we spent many afternoons at the beach or the other pool-the slides were a huge hit with my 12 year old. Other guests told me that they had gone over the adult only pool and could sit over there, but were not served drinks there. I didn't attempt to get a drink over there, so I don't know from personal experence.

I heard some 2nd hand stories about problems other guests were having, and one couple we met said that their toilet didn't work well, their kids were next door and that toilet was fine, but other than that, I didn't hear any firsthand accounts of problems.

I found that the resort had a bit of a summer camp feel, sort of relaxed and fun, vibe and we had a really good time. We all would have stayed longer if we could have.

movies and playstation2

Hi all,
Looking forward to my holiday in March at HV.
My young kids always need a bit of a break from the sun and pool/beach in the afternoon and the movies and playstation may be a welcome option.

How much is the deposit for PS2 or is it in the Family Rooms already?
What movies have been shown for kids at the cinema?
A.

:tired: Nothing personal to you pretty canuk.... but if I cigarettes are included in the all inclusive package, I will be sooooo upset. There is NO WAY that I should have to pay for that little luxury, I don't smoke and to be frank, I would rather tolerate any of the problems the resort is having then pay for your cancer causing habits. I suggest you bring your own. :surprised

:ermm: Mmmm thanks for your "input"

Moreso - thanks for the answer Planner :cheeky:

I have been having a problem tying down the company / hotel to a meeting to get an update. They are swamped with issues and trying to resolve them.

In my opinion: they are 100% booked without 100% of the rooms being ready.

The representatives on the ground are doing their best to help out. Please don't take it out on them.

More soon.

erm "they are swamped with issues" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ENOUGH SAID!

Apologies to planner @he !

So why are they swamped with issues?
To sallysue:

In answer to your question yes i do have photographs of the sub standard conditions.

To ottawasenators:

Let me explain the complaints procedure as to "why an earth someone would complain and get a "file""
When a complaint is made ,a Rep trys to give a solution ,if a solution cant be found then they have to document that and sign it producing a "file"
that "file" is in two pieces ,one for the customer and the other for the company.
When back home you have to send that "file" to the company. If you do not have one your complaint is practically useless!pictures or no pictures.

The file is there and signed by a Rep !
In my case i also took photographs as additional evidence.

And to anyone else who has any problems i also suggest that you take photographs as additional evidence.
from a legal aspect i am not willing to publish them to the Internet.
so to all the people that had to wait around hours for rooms to be available, toilet matter in their rooms,no ac,water leaks dont bother to tell people of your problems because when you post they dont believe you anyhow(even though they havent been) let them find out for themselves!

Oh and Ottawasenators if you think the solution to "Internal plumbing" is to "drink more booze and get drunk" then fair play to you
I can promise you that sickness and diahorea on holiday is very unpleasant.
My child is already very ill (hence the holiday) and contracting this whilst there has taken it's toll on her.
My wife and children could not get out of bed for 4 days! nevermind "drink and get drunk"

questions about the hotel
no there is no cigarettes in the all inclusive
there are hairdryers in the bathrooms
irons are in the bottom of the wardrobe with a small ironing sleeve
$6 dollars per hour for the internet
playstations are playstation 2 (small silver ones) available from the hotel they are not in rooms .$20 deposit they do not play games brought from home they only play the games that are rented from the hotel and you have to enter the pin that is on the game box so waste of time bringing your own games.
kids room have bed and tv only no furniture.
no adjoining family rooms
and the small kids room is connected to the main room with swing doors-bar style.

Let's get some clarification here.

First and MOST important Planner is a girl!!! Thank you very much. And I like to think "cute" in her own way........

Now we can get to the totally unimportant things.....LOL

Lentil - you are correct in your summation of the process. This is more important to the UK travellers (no offence) who have a history of filing complaints to work on getting partial refunds on their return. Don't get me wrong - I am not suggesting that there are not legitimate issues. BUT I will guarantee ( I have seen it too many times) that many of these complaints are ridiculous. Without that signed complaint form you cannot get a refund or credit back home.

When someone has a legitimate expectation and it is not fulfilled then you absolutely must complain. IN some cases people don't want to make waves and the problem just gets bigger. I have always suggested not taking it out on the reps, they do work hard.

When I said they were swamped with issues - that is not necessarily due to a large number of problems. Folks it is high season and it is just plain busy. And they may at times be understaffed. IT is also flu season here as well as the holidays, so party season. A little 24 ounce flu making the rounds too.

Pale Canuck - you are correct. It has been studied and proven that people who have a bad experience of any kind tell up to 10 times the number of people that someone who had a good experience will tell!!!!

So, please tell us all the good experiences you are having too!
