teen activity
To Canadian girly and her mom: although there are no adjoining rooms, we called the hotel directly (see previous post for number) and requested that our room be adjacent, which we were not promised, but they did accomodate our request. This was perfect as the rooms' doors were directly beside one another and only their room was attached. It helped me feel secure. Regarding things for teens to do? It is an awkward age and I know from having my own teenage daughter, that shopping is her thing, but not the type on this beautiful island. The programs are set up for younger kids and the in2action staff are very attentive and try to please; however, as a parent and highschool teacher, I know that teens want to "do" things after a spell. I suggest you get involved in some of the planned activities such as beach volleyball, the watersports, etc. And don't be shy. Our kids made friends b/c they were not wanting to tag along with us all week. Most teens are in the same boat.
My kids liked the tubing (cost 25 bucks for 2), and the banana boat (9 bucks) is available too. They loved the horseback riding and say it was the highlight. They went with their friends and their parents and raved about everything they saw. We booked through the resort. I am unaware about the high ropes' cost as it varied depending on whether it was the swing or zip line. My kids were not that interested in doing this. They did go the plaza twice to buy jewellery and stuff with us. My son found the vendors on the beach too aggressive for his liking so I would suggest a friendly "no thanks" unless parents are with them, if you find this type of thing intimidating. Irons were delived part way through the stay to all rooms, without request. I think the amount of cash you bring is totally dependent on the number of tours you take. We did few, but I managed to get a bit of reading done and enjoyed the down time. If I were to be there longer than a week, I would have brought a third book and taken more tours. The movie theatre is in the back, with a sizable screen. It has incurred some damage due to vandelism by guest as it is unsupervised. I know that one night X-Men 2 was playing, another Brokeback Mountain (family friendly?) so my kids rented a different flick. If you are movie people, I might suggest brining a few. Again, the tv is only 20'' in the room and has no DVD player. My kids played their rental in the theatre as they were the only ones there with their friends. Still, they do enough passive activity at home so there was little of it here. Oh, and there is one functioning tennis court, which I planned on using, with lights, but never got around to it. The receptionist said she had raquets and balls. Enjoy yourselves.
