Somene let me know how the coffee was. Last year we were at Punta Cana and the coffee came out of a machine. Tasted like instant. YUCK Had to do without coffee for two weeks. Us Canadians like to have our coffee in the morning.

Not that I saw. however, I think maybe you can at the adult lounge/bar. Don't quote me on that. Let me see if I can find out.

You may not need it though. Dominican coffee is fabulous and usually strong. It hits the spot. In fact you will most likely want to bring several pounds home with you as it is also very inexpensive, around $2 US per pound.

All smiles here - truly can't wait to go :D

I have a few random questions for anyone that knows ANY answers

1) I read that men have to wear pants in the a la carte restaurants? Does this include jeans or do they have to wear khakis or dress pants?

2) Does anyone know where to find the list of excursions that we're able to do from the resort?

3) Anyone else going Feb 20-27? There are 10 of us 20-22 year old Canadian kids going looking to par-tay ;)

Hey Pretty Canuk

I found some sweet looking tours on Viator.com and a few pages back (not sure how many, it's getting really big in here) someone mentioned that there is a guy near the resort called "the king" :) who gives great tours. I have also heard that the Monster truck safari is fun there is a great review at News, travel & tourism info from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

exact location of the list of trips offered through viator is Sightseeing, tours, attractions and events - book online

hope this helps!

I have been reading posts over the few weeks before we went to the holiday village and now we are home i thought to write a short note.
the DR is a lovely country with plenty of sunshine.shame about the hotel.
i would recommend to anyone thinking of going to spend your money elsewhere.
If you are a couple without kids or single then this place is not for you.it would be better named the kids village.
adults you will be bored, nothing to do.
throwing a lick of paint and a new quilt cover on a bed is not renovating.
i am in the building trade and watching these guys was funny.
half the advertised facilities was nt avail.
the food was ok if you are willing to eat cold meals and thats if you got a table lol
what a joke this place is!
hot chocolate?cappucino?if thats what you after then stay at home.
coffee is from a machine at the coffee station.
pool too small to swim in.
slides for kids deffo not adults.
prepare for the runs too lol
i give it a 2 star

Perfect! Thanks so much.
I was told that when we arrive at the resort there will probably be someone there from our travel agency who tells you everything that is available?

Is there a certain list of excursions that you can book once you get there? Or can you pretty much do whatever you want?

Excursion

Hey my fellow pale Canuck!

I have a few links for you if you are looking for excursions ...

I am leaving in 36 hours, so I can let you know everything when I get back ...

If you are there this week, someone will be meeting us on Jan 10th, outside the front lobby ... His name is Martin, highly recommended by some of our loyal friends here on DR1 ...

Let me know!

THANKS!

I'm not going until February... unfortunately.

I would love if you could send me the links for those excursions :D

So you have someone there that you had to book to help you get excursions?

At the resort right now!!

Everything at this resort is great!!! No complaints other than there werent two queen beds in our room! Matress and box spring on the ground... that is the only complaint, this hotel is more for families, but if you are single and know how to mingle you will meet other singles here! We have partied upstairs together for the last couple of nights, had a great time, went for early morning swims etc, but yes there are A LOT if kids here, but hey they dont bother me so no worries!! Sit back, there is lots of leg room here!!! Lots of beach, and great cheap tours to go on!! Dont buy from the hotel! They are triple the price!! Go see "Eddie Murphy" on the beach!! Have fun and dont complain, you are on vacation be happy!

In response to smokingasadyinart maybe upon booking your trip you should have reviewed the resort more closely and you would have found out that it is a resort that caters more to families especially with young children. We booked after finding it in a Signature brochure deliberately because it had many activities for our children. Perhaps next time you'll go elsewhere.
I've never heard so many complainers in my life until i found this forum.
People give me a break.............when travelling to such destinations as the Dominican Republic you have to take into consideration that you may get sick, take immodium, i do aswell as many other over the counter drugs.

honestly, i have been in july to the DR. Bahia Principe, and the coffee, was not really for me, it's just that strong coffee goes great with the frosty milk
