hahahahha :) Nice one ....

Just firmed everything up for our trip with the other couple. Everything is 100% solved, and the tickets are accurate.

Can't wait. although there has been neg. reviews, who cares. It's not like we paid a fortune to be in the sun, free drinks, all the food, and the relaxation.

Small Problems I can handle perfectly. I just hope the AC works. :)

Sorry I wasn't here earlier. I would of had more time to unload on Peter.

I must admit, Planner and you did a great job keeping your cool, while explaining the other side of the debate.

Bottom line is that it's not the hotel staffs fault, thus no sense in getting mad while your down there.

I so agree Ottawa, Planner is soooooo kool!! And you're right, it is not the hotel's fault. Signature vacations misrepresented what the hotel offers, not the other way around.

BTW You're my hero

We are now booked under DELUXE.

The brochure has 3 Royal Suites.

Deluxe
Deluxe w/ jacuzzi
Something else.

Thus the Deluxe is the lowest of the Royal Suites.

Thats my take on it :-0,

But I could be wrong, as I have been wrong many times before.

I am sure Peter will reply shortly that I am wrong about something. I think he is just aching to post when he wakes up and see's that I am back and want to enter the debates with him :)

Ola!I just wanted to say one thing about the swim-up bars. I being a prairie girl was also very intrigued with the pool bars, until we started noticing that alot of those big belly beer drinkers, could sit there ALL day never once leaving their stool.UMM good kidneys we figured. ewwww

Hmmm, I hope that wasn't Peter you were sitting beside. If thats the case, I may have to join the kids in the wave pool :)

Hahahah I kid, because I love. lol lol lol

Bed time.

Now that Terrance and Phillip have finished their "love in" can we confirm the following?
If you aren't staying in the VIP Deluxe suites that are situated near the beach. You can not use the Adult only pool and its swim up bar. After all thats what the debate is about. Isn't it?
Oh and by the way Ottwa or what ever your name is you be careful you dont trip on your cape and fall in the pool (and I thought Superman was American):bored:

Hahaha, Isn't it late accross the pond right now?

If you are not booked with Deluxe or higher you would ALMOST be correct that the people won't be allowed to use the pool and bar.

Question to you: Have you read signatures write up about the resort? It is very mis-leading.

First Choice is 100% accurate in there description.

Let me know if you have read it or not. I would like you to tell me what is your take when you read it.

Read it like a person that hasn't booked yet though. I already know your take about people getting a feature that you had to pay for. Take your personal feelings out of this for a moment, and tell me honestly if you think that everyone should have use of the pool and bar.

I await your response.

BTW - You were only PART right with Superman and American.

Superman is a fictional character and one of the most famous and popular comic book superheroes of all time.[1] American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian-born artist Joe Shuster created Superman in 1932

Wow, the internet is a wonderful tool.

Well Ron Joking apart and in all seriousness now I think planner may have hit the nail on the head when she intimated that it was possibly not a wise move to have an Adults only section in a resort that is putting itself up as the ideal family holiday resort.
In all honesty I can see this may cause problems as it is inherently divisive,
People will see the Adults only section and think, that providing they don't have their kids with them it will be ok to use it. People who have paid extra automatically become defensive when they read on these forums that this may happen.
From what I have read many people want to use the Adults only pool because they wish to go sans a bikini top and are worried about children or young adults seeing them, my fear would be that even if parents left the kids elsewhere while they used the adults pools, kids being kids will at sometime come to find the parents at the pool for one reason or another. I'm sure you could imagine the sort of thing I mean.
That's why I believe people are forming in to two distinct camps about the whole idea of the Adults only section.

Holy chit Batman - spend a little time with family over the holidays and - WOW.

OK, I'm back now and the first comment that even comes close to a personal comment is gone and so will those that follow...

so play nice together or this thread is going to take a big swing south, for good - and then no one will get any more questions answered.

Peter,

I agree almost fully. Having (2) separate areas within 1 resort is going to prove a disaster unless they clearly state what is what in the brouchure. I wouldn't even know where to begin if I was in charge of making the brouchure.

They are trying to have their cake and eat it too. I am just not sure who "they" are. I am assuming that "First Choice" and "Signature" are the "Big" boys involved, so I think they would be the first ones to go after. Unfortunaley (spelling, its late give me a break :)) the hotel is going to face the heat unless people see this thread and know what to expect before going and challenge the tour operator to know exactly what they will be paying for and what options they are entitled to receive.

Now I think Signature realizes there is a problem and have now solved at least 4 couples. They are in for some more headaches when the first batch of people come back from the resort, and question why they weren't allow places. Until the brochure is clear, you will have canadians thinking they are getting something they paid for, and you will have the UK people saying that we don't deserve it because we didn't pay for it.

Bottom Line - We (canada, UK) are both right. We should hold the operators accountable on both ends, and not get mad at people here because you guys are thinking we are trying to get something for free.

Sister Companies should be fighting, not the people that are going away to relax.

On that note, I wish you a nice evening, and we shall chat tomorrow peter.

regards,

Ron, aka Ottawa

I'm too tired to reply in depth. Have a good night, and that was a good post. Nothing negitive.

Hey Gregg,

Hope your holidays went well.

We are all playing nice. You must like that there is over 350 replies, and 36 pages with 30,000 views on this ONE thread :):):):)

We are all grown ups (except me - I got it in, so no one can say it now).

I think we are all excited about going away.

Like I said back on page 20 something ..... I like to keep this thread alive. It keeps everyones vacation front and center. I love waking up and knowing I will be discussing DR and the HV for the day.

20 days and counting.

Confused more than ever

I just want to thank those of you who have made my decision more confusing than ever. I booked this vacation at the HV for 17 people and now I am feeling guilty and upset. I am now almost 100% positive that we have made the wrong choice on a vacation. From the not being allowed into the Adults only section, to the bad food, the mosquitos, inadequate rooms, the complaints about kids (and we are bringing 6 boys with us). The only thing that sounds good right now is the sun and the beach. I don't want to go on a vacation and have to spend it having to fight to get what we were told we were when we booked this vacation. This is only my 2nd vacation in my life and now I feel I have made the wrong choice. I wish that signature vacations could read this site and see how their mistakes are costing hard working families like mine a vacation of a lifetime.

I don't mean to sound so petty but this is huge for all 17 of us who planned what was to be a great vacation.

Hi again... I just read this review on another site. It doesn't sound to impressive.

Posted on: 6:59 pm, yesterday Report inappropriate post

oh man......dont do it. This place has some serious problems. I am at the Holiday Village right now and there are more complaints than compliments by far. I booked a room with two beds, I got one for me, my two girls and my boyfriend. They put a cot in the room which consists of a mattress on the floor. There is an ant problem in the room....bad combination. There have been people who were assigned rooms that other people were in, one family has their two rooms totally accross the resort from each other. There are sewer problems, bed problems, food problems, exposed electrical wires, inadequate lighting, you can see outside the door when it is closed....its rediculous. One family had a rat problem!!! Trust me, coming here now isnt good. Heck, there was even one large group from England that wanted to go home after the first day....and they were not the only ones. Many people tried to transfer out to a different hotel, one family would have had to pay $3400 US Dollars to do so. They have a lot of work to do here, and it aint happening overnight.

Kathy,

I'm sorry your confused. Your concerns are not petty at all, you work hard and you deserve to have a nice vacation. As you can see by the pictures, the place is beautiful and it seems to have all the amenities for a great family vacation. If you go intending to have a great time, you will.

As for Signature Vacations and the errors. I suggest you talk to them. They were more than reasonable with my concerns, and I am very happy with the customer service they were able to provide in conjuction with my tour operator.

Take care, and try not to worry. There will always be people who will complain, but I'm sure things will be fine.

The following is an FYI

Some may know this and some may not but I thought it needed to be said for clarification...

Reference has been made to First Choice (the UK based Tour Operator) and Signature (the Canadian based Tour Operator) as if they were separate and unconnected companies (at least that's how it sounded to me) - they are not.

First Choice is First Choice Holidays PLC a UK based Tour Operator

and

Signature is Signature Vacations and is "wholly owned by award-winning British tour giant First Choice Holidays".

For more info see:

First Choice Holidays
and/or
Signature Vacations

They should be disseminating the same information as they are in fact, the same company.
