question ?? What can we let on the bed each morning for the maid..(make up ? money ? skin cream ? socks ? any suggestion please ??? :)). think i miss the response for that one.

We're bringing a lot of little bags for kids with pencil, eraser, sharpener, stickers. So when we gonna go in the town we will be able to make some kids happy :D

Hi everyone!
I'm new on here! First of all, a huge thanx to everyone that has made an effort to post in their reviews and the pictures have been GREAT! A massive thank you to planner for all her hard work!!

I will be flying to the DR on April the 1st from Gatwick along with my fiance and 36 of our close friends! We are getting married over there and are counting down the weeks.
A few of us are staying in Royal Suites. Could anyone please tell me if our friends that are in standard rooms can use the adult bar. I know that they are not aloud in the adult pool but not sure of bar?
We also have a 13mnth old baby coming with us and the mother has asked what the milk situation is like out there?
Is there anyone else going the same time as us?

For the maids: the universally accepted - MONEY. Little gifts are also welcome.

Adult bar - yes it is open to all adults. But NOT the bar at the adult pool.

Milk - please ask your friend exactly what is needed and I will tell you what is here. No problem at all.

Okay so 36 of your close friends - that is a lot of friends. Wow. By April it will be amazing here...... How can I get to be one of your friends......LOL;)

thank you planner for a very quick reply!:)
My friends will be glad to hear that are ok to use the adult bar! I think a few were panicking!

Milk would have to be full fat cow's milk.

I have asked a few friends that are going to bring some stuff for the children! I work in a school and know how important it is to have supplies! We'll have to meet up when out there.

Have you managed to have a llok at the Royal Jacuzzi, Junior Suites yet? Thats where we'll be staying!
Thanks again Planner!;)

Hi all,

Milk - full fat cows milk is available in powdered form. No problem at all. Bring some from home for the first day or two and I will help you get more when you arrive.

Renovation work - is as unintrusive as possble but at times unavoidable. They are working hard to finish fixing everything so everyone can fully enjoy their vacations.

I have not yet been inside the Royal Suites for photos. I saw one that was in renovation and it was really nicely done. There are folks down here this week who are letting me visit their suite. Then you will get photos....

iojames - I will look forward to meeting you! Please please please grab me a current newspaper off the plane when you are coming.... I crave newspapers...LOL Sad but true.

And once again, you are all very welcome.

I am so Happy to read the positive reviews. I have not doubt that many people had some real problems. But it does look as if they are getting things straightened out. I look forward to seeing some of you there (Feb 8 -22)
Planner, newspapers from what province, and how do we find you to give these to you ?

Locks on luggage

From past experience on long haul flights if you lock the cases security will only break them off or even cut the cases open. We always leave our cases unlocked.
Hope this helps

Wrighty.

PS we fly from Manchester 26th Feb and can't wait.

Water Fun

Hi Planner.

My husband's favorite ocean activity is renting a jet ski and playing in the waves. Do you know of any place near by the HV where he can rent one by the hour that has reliable equipment? Last year, we went to Puerto Vallarta and he ended up with a somewhat unreliable jetski which stranded him quite a way off the beach. Hoping that wont happen again (although it was good for a laugh for me :D )

Thanks again for all your help and information.

Also, a big thanks to everyone who has posted reviews. It's good to hear about the resort before hand (the good, the bad and the ugly) Can't wait!!! only 30 more sleeps!

travel with a one year old

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there everyone,

I leave this week with my one year old and six year old, and wondered if anyone knows if they provide a crib or playpen for your one year old? Was is available for sleep as soon as you checked in? We arrive right at my son's bedtime and are concerned about having a place to sleep for him right away. We would like to avoid lugging ours along. We bought a baby pack that means they are supposed to provide a stroller as well, but wasn't sure how reliable this might be. Any info would be great! Also, is the milk OK to drink at the resort? What about the ice?

Thanks,
Dawn

can u get cappucinos at the coffee bar?

Hi - wife of travelfish here! travelfishspouse??!

We had both iron and ironing board, as well as hairdryer in our room. As my husband mentioned in his post yesterday - our family of 4 had a really lovely holiday. The weather and the beach were great. We never waited for a buffet table, always got a beach chair, at the pools and the beach, had no plumbing problems at all and I found the staff to be lovely, without exception. Some didn't speak much English, but they were pleasant and friendly.

The only complaint I really have is about the system for reserving seats in the a la carte restaurants. I stood in line for about 1 hour - met some nice people, so the line wasn't a big drag - but it was mid afternoon and I would have rather chatted with my new friends poolside - and then was only able to reserve 2 restaurants. It all sounds a bit whiny when I read it over here, but we were supposed to have a dinner in each restuarant (that is 4 dinners if all were open, out of 6, but we could only get 2 and were told to come back and line up again to get the 3rd) I think they need to improve that system, I realize that the 4th restaurant wasn't yet open, but I really don't understand why I should have to line up again another day to get a 3rd . The buffet is fine, but like anything can be a bit tiresome after 4 or 5 days - and also, it means that you or a member of your family is always wandering around getting food - a la carte meant we could all sit together and be served a meal, talk etc - a nice treat. So, not to whine, but I think that system of reseving needs to be changed, every restaurant we were in was half empty, and yet we were told they were full. It was all a bit odd and annoying. OK, enough of that!

Someone asked what time breakfast was started - it was open by 7am for sure, may have been a bit earlier - I am not sure. There is a 24 hour coffee bar as well.

There were 2 pools, and it is true that the part of activity pool was often in use for swim lessons and other things. Most of the time that I was pool side, at least part of the pool was open for use, but we spent many afternoons at the beach or the other pool-the slides were a huge hit with my 12 year old. Other guests told me that they had gone over the adult only pool and could sit over there, but were not served drinks there. I didn't attempt to get a drink over there, so I don't know from personal experence.

I heard some 2nd hand stories about problems other guests were having, and one couple we met said that their toilet didn't work well, their kids were next door and that toilet was fine, but other than that, I didn't hear any firsthand accounts of problems.

I found that the resort had a bit of a summer camp feel, sort of relaxed and fun, vibe and we had a really good time. We all would have stayed longer if we could have.

hi can u get cappucino's at the coffee bar???? yip yip horrah!!

ann brown - email me your photos and I will post them.

If you bought the baby pack then yes the crib will be provided! I just spoke with a rep at the resort and she confirmed.

The only jet skis near there are on the other end of the beach. So go to the beach turn right and keep going all the way around the point. Nice 20 to 25 minute walk!!! Don't know the price sorry.

Yes you can drink the milk and yes the ice is safe!

The rep also told me that the issues are slowing down, less and less problems. Each one gets sorted out as soon as possible.

This is good news for those of you yet to go!
