Hey Oliersdiehard, thats a littlle harsh, Unfortunatly they had a real go with it down there. When people pay a lot of money they expect certain commodities like hot water no sewage back up.
The only thing you can do when this happens is to make the best out of the situation and get the most enjoyment out of your vacation.
Go on day trips or in my case lots of sun beach and alchol LOL LOL

Hi zwinky - can you tell me how much you paid for the outback safari & the horsedrawn carriage ride?

Anyone - not heard any reviews on the cinema, fitness classes & dance lessons - can anyone comment? Are they available as advertised?

Wavelenghth - What are the names of the reps? My kids are dying to know if any from our last 2 holidays will be there.

Thanks to all for your input, keep up the good work. Hopefully see some of you around in April.

Hows the ocean Temperature??

Just a quick question. Can anyone tell me how warm the ocean temp is. What I mean is, can you walk straight in, or do you have to get used to it a little.

Thanks, Woody

Dominican Republic Embassy United Kingdom

For those of you who were asking about legal requirements for weddings I have attached a link.
Legalisation = 20 pound per document
translation = 85 pound per document
legalisation again = 60 pound per document
they have to be legalised both by the commonwealth office and dominican embassy.

I have 4 documents in total as i have never been married before or changed my name by deed pole.

You have to have a staturatory declaration done for each of you so that is 2 documents and then you both need a full birth certificate (long one with parents details

I have 4 documents so equals 660 pound (this does not include staturay declaration which is done by solicitor)

Hope this help (this is the information I have been given anyway)

hey there,
we asked our travel agent for the roayl deluxe room upgrade, he said he would give it to us. we received our edocs, and guess what? is says "standard room." we filed a complaint with signature, because now, 17 days before departure, we have to argue for a deluxe room, which we asked for, in the first place! :eek:gre: congrats to you for being able to get the proper accomidation the FIRST time around.......

Toronto Couple.thanks for the reply...
You just never know these days when you book something..room classifications are so different at each resort..I think its done to confuse you.

I hope you can get it fixed before you go..We were not going to book the upgrade at first.but my wife thought it might be a good idea to try it and see what the difference was in the level of service..etc..

Morning everyone.

Water temperatures - to visitors it is nice and warm. Whether it takes a few minutes to get used to it as you go in - no idea - that would be different for everyone! It is warm though.

Room categories - in each resort and with each tour operator they will have their own way of "categorizing" their rooms. This is not about confusing anyone, it is about "marketing". They all want to stand out from the competition. They all want you to think theirs is better.

At HV - their is standard and deluxe. My understanding that deluxe is Royal Suites.

Wedding requirements - thanks for posting the costs of those documents - but would you mind taking those conversations over prices and details private. Same goes with all the hocket talk. A little if fine but after a while it bogs down the thread. Thanks.

Hi Grogan - I have just received my paperwork re the wedding booking and they mention the legalisation fees for Foreign commonwealth and Dominican Consulate but nothing about the translation one and this one isn't cheap! I have just emailed FC to find out - its getting more expensive by the day. I have 5 documents that need doing. I have been quoted ?50 for a solictor doing the stat dec.

declaration

Hi there

we were married last year in cyprus and our solicitor charged ?5 per declaration, however, we live in grimsby, not sure what your solicitor will charge but would have thought that price would be roughly the same.

re:: rooms

as far i as i can tellin the royal suites vip area there is 3 types of accommodation,

1)royal deluxe rooms
2)royal jacuzzi junior suites
3)royal jacuzzi master suites.

is this right planner, as this is what first choice are selling.
or is there only one type of deluxe room
