Hi Skiess, I got married there in september and stayed for 3 weeks in the royal deluxe, totally loved the place, that much that we are booking to go back in may, on another forum i check people who have been recently say its brilliant but not mentioned anything about the buffet restaurant but then if they didnt see it before they probably wont know of the re-fit or re-build. we fell in love with the place and u couldnt ask for anything better, even mre so with being in the royal suites, just evening entertainment is horrendous. Hope you have a fantastic trip. Chris x

Reply to holiday in carribean village.
My husband and I stayed there twice last winter and were very satisfied with our vacations.
The food was good as was the service
The place was clean. Staff were very friendly
It's only about 10 minutes from the airport and close to downtown.
The beach is a 10 minute walk and very nice
We are going back for 2 weeks starting next week

Hi Everyone
Anyone out there that can give me details on a standard queen room w/sofa bed - amenities in room? coffee maker in room? location of this type of room? are there any on the second level? Thanks

Just returned form HVGB

Wanted to leave praise for HVGB and all the staff. The five of us 2 adults and 3 kids had a wonderfull week in Puerta Plata. The resort is clean and well-maintained. Stayed in 29 and found the family rooms spacious and comfortable. The buffet was wonderful and my kids enjoyed their own special kids' buffet with unbreakable plates (a plus for parents, too). No one was ill nor did we hear of any illness other than overindulgence. Would reccommend this hotel to family and friends alike. We will miss HVGB and the beautiful people of the Domincan Republic.

fab buffet

The buffet is quite nice. Everything from fresh omelets, pancakes, french toast to smoothies in the morning. Lunch and supper have a nice variable fare with roasted meats, made to order pasta and seafood nights. The entire buffet is nice and clean and we had no issues regarding food prep. Tried almost everything and actually preferred the buffet to some of the a la carte restaurants. The only issue is the tile floor in part of the buffet. It is quite slick when wet. Had a storm go through one night and a bit of water made the next mornings breakfast a bit comical as my kids were often 'sliding' in to the table with their meal. Overall we were very impressed with the quality and general appearance of the buffet. Any more questions, just let me know.

Thanks xdaniellex. The one is Mexico looks lovely but we couldn't be doing with 2 long haul flights in one year with kids so we are going to the holiday village costa del sol in August for a week. X Has anyone been to DR in March just wondered what sort of weather we can expect?
