Figure a gallon an hour. Do the math. It adds up really quick. If not, everybody would do it.

Then again, how long would a genset last running 24/7 ?

Funnily enough, I have a bit of experience with gensets and fuel consumption. When we have a dental clinic running, I rent a 20 KW diesel generator to provide power for all the dental equipment - compressors, dental units, etc. That generator gets an hour and 20 minutes per gallon of diesel. I use those figures to calculate how much cash is needed for the purchase of fuel during the clinic, and have never been off in my calculations.

I must admit, however, that when I asked the owner about running time per gallon, I got an incredulous look. Typical machismo, he couldn't believe that a WOMAN would ask about something along those lines. :rolleyes:

I have yet to meet a Dominican that can calculate "Fuel Consumption" of ANYTHING, much less "Miles Per Gallon" for a car!!!!
