Any free medical care in the D-R, any ??
I mean what about the Emergency room like after a car or moto accident, will they first stick their hands in your pockets before taking care of you ?
No free medical care at-all in the D-R ??
Medical care is free in any public hospital in DR. Emergency or not. That is, many times you have to buy the medical supplies needed, because they are usually out, but in terms of payment, none...

What about paying the ambulance, at what point does that kick in after a car accident ?

When I was shot there were no local ambulances. Taken to nearest hospital on motoconcho and then by car. It took 3 hours to find an ambulance in order to be transferred to the capital, and they would only go if we paid to fill up with diesel and paid 30,000RD$. On arrival at hospital, they insisted on proof of insurance plus a RD$30k I think it was deposit before they would admit me to the ER. There was a cash point nearby luckily.
If you are going to have an accident or be shot, make sure you have access to cash!

I don't think that any of us ever want to be treated in a public hospital in the DR.
Your post sort-of contradicts post #8, of free medical care in the D-R.
You won't have any say in it if you are taken unconcious.
They turned me away as did not want a dead gringa on their hands.
