i decided i should dedicate tomorrow to baking just in case and sent miesposo to jose luis for last minute shopping. he said it was a mess already, packed with folks buying supplies.
he is only working until noon tomorrow and we are going to do our hurricane prep tomorrow. locking the cats, bringing the dogs in for the night, all that jazz. remember to bring your rubbish bins inside as well, that stuff may fly.

My wife did the last minute shopping yesterday and said no problem other then she had to go to 3 stores for fresh chicken.... to put into a freezer that we just put on line. ??

Put out the cats and bring in the dogs. I LOVE seeing flying cats. (my bad.)

Dang and thank you. Forgot the rubbish cans.

I see the Florida Keys are already under evacuation.  Does the Government here ever warn people to evacuate ahead of time from coastal areas?  We're just darn too close to the ocean.  Concerned but not able to leave.  We've heard people in Cabarete (Dominicans and expats leaving to Santiago and Santo Domingo).

the public is already warned abotu the dangers to await along such areas.
we have a HURRICANE Warning for the NORTHCOAST and the EASTCOAST!!!
what more warning do you need to make a decision?
there is always a way out for the ones who are unsure if there home can handle Hurricane forces for long hours.
there been public Busses, and Taxis availabe for rides to the other end of the Island all day long.
so what do you mean you are not able to leave??
if you are not sure that your place is safe, pack yur suitcase nOW and grab a cabby or hopp on the Bus first time in the morning.

hahaha.
Cats have 7 lifes or so,
i find it o.k. to use one life for Fun while there are all TV stations down.
send me a copy of the video of their Flights before the Claro 4G goes on vacay, lol.
my 2lbs Watchdog Lucy will of course sleep in my Bed together with my Daughter, watching Kids movies as long as there is power on and watching them via internet on the Laptop as long as internet comes via cellphone over here.
the house dragon can go and fly with the Cats, lol.

We have over 100 movies... on DVD on a player that still works. Of coarse others on disk. Flying cats are so much fun. lol
Dogs we really love.... and a good source of meat if needed. (here puppy puppy) or just take my left arm?

Thanks for the humor Mike. Perfect timing.

i would never eat my Dog nor Daughter.
the House Dragon is lucky 'cause i don't like old tough meat.
as a part lefty i don't touch my left arm.
but my pretty neighbour's husband looks young meat, things can get lost in a Storm, stuff happens when hungry.
we will survive and we will play on the beach this weekend,
'cause weekends are there for that, no school, just to have fun

We are about to make a decision.
Living close to a river and 1000 meter from the coast. Pack the bags and leave for SD?

if the Video is not from now from there,
then the Mod should delete it.
ju10prd,
where do you have the video from?

Mike

I deleted it . It was posted on weather underground blog. I know Codington well in Barbuda and reviewed it closely and could not be sure about it being one of the buildings in the small town where all the population lives so thought best to delete.

you know your place and it's vulnerabilities best.
if you are unsure about your safety, pack and leave would be my recommendation.

Mike
Thanks. I think we (family and our close family) will send at least the women and kids with the vehicles

thats also a good idea, always depending on each's individual place of course.
with the Kids and Dos and Novias at a safe place some can sit out such and take care about their place on site withotu to worry abotu the actions or moods of the rest of the family aside.
good luck

The NHC track is about 75km north of the NC and is well within the extent of the current hurricane wind zone which is far greater on the north east side but about 90km on south side as confirmed by the HH recon. passes.

NHC 8pm statement:

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from
the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175
miles (280 km).

Hurricane
conditions are expected to begin within the hurricane warning area
in the Dominican Republic early Thursday, with tropical storm
conditions beginning Wednesday night.

Don't doubt, act and hope for the best.

Irma is now on 17.2N on 15mphrs forward speed.
when you look on teh Guadaloupe Radar, keep in mind that such radar does not show you any windforces nor the windfield.
it shows the Clouds/heaviest waterloads only.
the windfield with Tropical Storm Force winds is much bigger and passed the first Island Belt a while ago, already approaching the next row of Islands liek Anguilla and St Kitts and alikes/neighbours.

Hey folks, there is no loss of face running from this storm; the most powerful in the Atlantic since the NHC started keeping records. If you are not sure that where you are is going to be safe for the duration, go away for a couple of days. Leave a big pile of kibble in the middle of the floor for the dogs (who cares if they eat it all 5 in five minutes, they won't starve) and leave.

Leaving beats having to swim, or dig yourself out during an ongoing storm. A minitrip also beats huddling in the bathtub for hours because the shelter wasn't as sound as you thought/hoped.

Don't be that person we see on the news after every storm who could have and should have but didn't.

Good luck.

People need to think about those rains from last year up in the central areas and north coast. Catastrophic flooding, and that was only due to a few tropical waves that passed over and got stuck over the country. They were not due to a Tropical Storm or Hurricane. I wish all well.
