Irma will wobble because it's circulation is interaction with land permanently.
the Storm has several small Landmasses in the way of it's surface circulation all the time since last night and now the big Storm Enemy Puerto Rico is already in the TS-Force Windshield.
looking on PR Radar the Eye of Irma has the size of the whole DR Eastshores to fit in at once.
Barbuda got a full walk over with the SE Wall in the middle of the Isle.
Anguilla been walked over on the SE and it looks like they hit the toughest Nortehrn Eyewall.
we have to hold all thumbs for jstarebel, Jungles adventures in the Mangove channel aren't any fun these days.
St Thomas and neighbours are on their turn as we speak.
St Maarten looks very bad.
don't get any of your guards down due any light shift North shown this morning.
Irma shifts all the time.
expect Hurricane Force Winds from the Eastern Cape(PC Airport) Northwards and over Samana and along all the Northshores to Monte Cristi. be ready to take that and we all will be fine and chatting again once Claro wakes back up again.
the SW Wall will pass very close to the PR NE Tip off Fajardo.
the Storm hopefully shows the typical bounce back then, with its counterclock wise rotating winds crashing from N to S into the PR Mountains. it is a usual effect that Storms shift North due that when coming too close, and Irma should be there very very close.
we never in history had a machine like Irma ner the PR or DR Mountains, so we don't know how the effect works on 300kmphr powers. let those mountains kick azz and move the biach a few extra miles northwards, every darn Mile North counts for a million.
i am confidend that we all will stay fine, but it is too focking close to feel fine.

I always wondered why Rainieri never mounted one with public data access here on the Cape, the perfect location to cover the Island and specially everything wandering in from the East.

Although this site is a great source of information with many knowledgeable people, please do not try venturing out into this or any storm to capture photos or videos to share with others. Here in the RD, downed power lines cause more harm than the winds and water. Please be careful, and wait until everything passes, and is cleaned up. Even small electrical connections running from your homes should be attended to by an electrician. It is common knowledge that there are not many skilled electricians here in the DR as compared to other regions of the world, but most power company techs work on the side for a few pesos. They will even handle phone and internet connections for you, as they usually run next to each other. Those few pesos you spend may very well save your life.
I went last night to el Bravo Esperilla, first I couldn't find parking then I couldn't find a cart, when I saw the lines at check out I left and came back this morning at 8am, found parking, plenty of carts, fresh bread and short lines at checkout, tonight it will be mayhem... dominincans always think it will go away or disappear (like puff it's gone), then at the last minute make preparations... normal, always a "take it easy" attitude

I flew back to the states yesterday. I told myself id never fly spirit again but I did what I had to do. Hopefully things in the capital don't get to bad. I also hope all my things will remain safe in my apartment.
I think you're smart taking your solar panels down. All mine that would take a direct wind/water load are down and any wires have been secured. I have 2 banks of 4 on another roof that face east and hoping that wind from the mainly north will just go over/under. I had roofing people do the install since to dangerous for my regular guys.
Just about everything is done outside that needs or can be done. Now moving "stuff" from the north facing rooms to the south side rooms..... just in case the shutters and double glass have a problem.
I designed and built to withstand a Cat. 2 direct hit but never know if or where the contractor that built the place may have skimped a little.
Looks like we will get more Cat. 1 winds looking at the new models.

For those on the ground, what are the timelines for storm arrival on the NC? Have they talked about peak arrival time for POP??

Tropical Storm Jose formed in a completely different area than Irma and is on a completely different way.
Jose comes form the farest South and is moving Norhwestward, Irma came from the northern plains over there and went West and even for 2 days SW.
a tracking outlook for Jose is too early and there are anyways no detailed datas about it, as all sources are focused on Irma and will stay on Irma til she finishes somewhere in FLorida or the Carolinas.
Jose will most likely already be a Hurricane by the next 2PM update today. it is developing fairly well and run already this morning 70mphr max windspeeds, just a fe miles short of hurricane force.
by typical Storm tracking behaviro Jose should be well attracted by the messed up Wake of Irma and head toward Irma's Path, but which direction it take's once closer to the NE'ern Island Belt, nobody knows.
there is also the new Tropical Storm over the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico.
that could bring conditions saving the Gulf Coast from Irma wnadering into the Gulf of Mexico.
due those conditions it is much more likely for Irma to Turn at or even well before southern Florida and Track North along or onto the SE Shores of the USA.
Irma's forward speed is not slowing down, the opposite, the last 24hrs it is even slightly increasing, so once done with our Area it will be rightaway at the doorstep of the US Mainland.
te Westernmost Band of Irma already passed PR and hit the Mona Passage,
it is all right here in front of my place, straight to my East on a WNW Tracking.
this will pass freaking close.
wind here is already a constant strong breeze from the Nortehrn directions.
time is almost up and the raindance will begin.
