I will chime in with some advice for the OP even though he will never take it. If you intend to live here with your girlfriend the farther away you are from her family the better. Unless you have an unlimited bankroll for the inevitable problems you will hear about. Not to mention "Open House" 24/7........

On the other hand Sky, how will he ever learn about the "real" customs and habits of living in the DR? Seriously. Better right away then later when he gets blind sided.

OP--I promised you the other day I wouldn't give you more advise. Thats a given. But, I'll give you a fact to chew on: Without listening and acting on "the needs of you lady as how it relates to family unit" you won't need to worry about your safety, kissing in public, or cab fares.

Thank you. I get the message. I have done a lot of fact finding on this matter. She has no siblings nor parents but a boatload of primas/primos.
I will have a discussion with you about what my involvement will be in their lives. I think she is honest enough to tell it like it is

I recently had to send $90 to my GF for a Biopsy and tissue study. She had borrowed 5000 pesos from her uncle. If I hadn't promised to help pay she could not have had the procedure or do you think her uncle (who is not well off) would have just given her the 5000? since its all in the family. I would like an opinion which seems pretty easy to get from you guys/gals

Regardless, I felt it was my responsibility because her health and well being is very important to me.
