I have been in the DR. since 1989 and had fantastic time. The only bad part when i got divorced in 2008. That cost me 200K but i had 3 lovely kids all adults now. In 2008 i meet a nice person in the country side and later on we moved in my other house close to POP. Thing were great and we got a little girl. She is now 3 and half. Every years i was going back to my homeland to work and look at my assets for a 6 months period. Every 6 month shot i was going back for quick 2 weeks trip. House was very confortable. When i meet that nice person she was very poor and alone. Her father had killed himself by suicide because he could not provide food for his family. So i did my best to get her into a far better life that she had nothing to worry financialy. I left oversea in june as i had to do and 2 days later she left the house permanentely with all the furnitures and documents ect...to her mother house in the campo. She doesn t know that i know that since she write to me with the internet. Luckily i had change my bank account so she could not take anything from. I am asking DR1 all timers theirs advised (don t be hard i know i am stupid and didn t get the 36 number) . Shall i flight back and go there with a fiscal and recover my belonging ??I have very good friends close to where she is now in the campo. How should i deal my stupiness ?? Thanks .

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Are the furnitures your main concern? What documents did she take? Remember, you have a daughter with this woman and things will get complicated.

Other men have come home to find their Dominican woman has absconded with all the furniture - it doesn't usually end well. Did you buy all the furniture before you met her, and do you have all the receipts in your name? If not, don't bother. I'd be more concerned with the "documents" and your daughter.

I don`t think he`s getting his furniture back. Anyway, to me he seems more concerned about his furniture than about his daughter.

I heard one thing is to rent everything in the wife's name. Then if she gets cheeky the rental companies can go after her. The DR is an odd place. Renting seems to be cheaper than owning.. including for girlfriends and wives.

So the situation is:

1. At least a 3 years relation, with a baby. Are you sure the baby is yours?

2. Set-up house together, you paid the bills and the furniture. Is the house bought and paid for or a rental?

3. In a long distance relationship. Are you expecting her to be faithful?

It sounds like she found a more firm relationship and moved on.

Maybe you should too?

MD, your first question is exceedingly relevant..

I'm sorry, i look at things in a different way. I would say you won at roulette.

First, you were in a three year relationship with what most likely, is a younger, beautiful girl. Secondly, you were gone what sounds like, extended lengths of time--up to six months. How many people would stay in that kind of relationship? Count your blessings. She stayed for as long as she could endure it. Thirdly, you got a healthy child from the relationship. How many people can say this? Everyday, millions of people have children with child defects, diseases, and myriad of physical issues. I'd say you're very lucky, because, unlike millions of people, your're able to financially support your baby and send her to good schools. Her education should be paramount to you.

Put yourself in the mother's situation. she's probably hurt...that's why she took personal belongings of yours that is of no use to her. she probably wants you to hurt like she hurts. No rocket science here. I'm not saying this is definitely the case, but in many situations, people want their partner to suffer like they suffered. That's human nature.

All in all, i would say that you're the winner in this situation. And so is she. But remember, if your job took you out of the country for long periods of time. i don't care what country you live in...this is a recipe for disaster in every country, in every relationship. I used to work on ships for 12 years...i know what i'm talking about. I was gone 4 and 5 months out of the year, for many years. unfortunately, it doomed many of good relationships. I pretty much succumbed myself to be a permanent resident at brothels/bordellos around the globe. Wherever my ship anchored long enough so that me and the crew could run down the local brothel, i was fine. Wherever there are women at, i'm happy. I don't care if they're big, short, tall, or fat. I can love a big woman.

My advice: don't make things any nastier then what they can be. Call her, ask her what will it take to make her happy? And then try and find a middle ground where you're both satisfied with the outcome. However, if you love her, tell her so. The most important thing in my opinion is to be 100% honest, and make her understand that you just want what best for her and your baby.

No rocket science here.

Love Frank

You know the chick that used to dance a lot
Every night she'd be on the floor shaking what she'd got
Man when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot
I mean she was steaming

That night over at Johnny's place
Well this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face
Man we just fell about the place
If that chick don't want to know, forget her!!

Thanks Frank, This is an exellent advise. I was a bit lost of control and balance been Under pressure oversea with my job. This is the reason i put that post, because there is a lot of fantastic people on DR1 with a lot of life experience. I shall definitly choose that path and this way to proceed. The story is a simple clasical Dominican story. My first mistake was that i bought her a laptop. With time she found a Young chulo by chating. She was waiting desesparetely for a visa to go anywhere oversea. Unfortunatly her tourist visa was declined by the embassy in june. It should have been great to be able to live together , sometime in my country when i was working. The little princess (my daughter) had no problems traveling since she had my nationality. In the balance been not as Young as she was, (29 years old) but a very secure providing responsable person i have lost that one for a chulo and therefore number 36 didn t show up. Thanks again Frank

She would have found the chulo even if you hadn`t bought her the laptop. She could have gone to an internet place or to a friend`s house. Plus, they could have met in person.

Maybe she`s been upset because you`ve been together for a while but you wouldn`t marry her. Maybe that played a part in why she moved out?
