Magnus Kristinn Magnusson / Listin Diario

Local authorities and Interpol are searching for 36-year old Magnus Kristinn Magnusson, an Icelandic citizen who is described as an outstanding table tennis player in Iceland. He speaks English and his native language. According to his sister, he had entered via Las Americas International on 3 September 2023 and should have returned to Iceland on 10 September. He was a no-show to his flight. The family does not know his whereabouts.

His sister Rannveig Karlsdóttir has expressed concern for his safety and says they are desperately looking to locate Magnusson. On her Facebook page, she explains her brother cannot be reached by cell phone and there has been no activity on his social media accounts or his bank account.

She said her brother measures about 1.85 cm tall and is slim and athletically built. He has gray-blue eyes...

Would be nice to know his intended itinerary or Hotel booking or Airbnb.
I won't hold my breath for any good news.
Bizarre.

Until they give more details . No one is going to bother trying to help.. its pointless trying to figure this out .
They dont even say when he went Silent . At least start there .
I never saw where he ever contacted anyone while he was here, but no one has heard from him since he went to the airport and missed his flight.

The odds of him hiding out with a girlfriend and just not calling are growing slimmer and slimmer.
There was that Coincidence of the Gay Man Re appearaing ( he was also missing) .. some claimed it was linked possibly .. or maybe I read it wrong .
So if this Missing Man from Iceland was also in that Lifestyle , that certainly is a major Coincidence .

I never saw that he was gay nor what part of the DR he was from(?). Never saw any details other than he disappeared and reappeared.

They did give us a photo and some vague table tennis info.

Exactly. No one seems to know anything. Santo Domingo is a big city, and we don’t even know if that’s where he stayed, only where he flew into.

I saw the foto, but where was he from? Why did he disappear? Did the police investigate?
There must be dozens of easily answered questions about money, lifestyle, plans, residence, method of travel, phone usage, mental state, travel history, work history, Spanish speaking, substance abuse, street smarts and the like. A mystery without any clues.

The untouched bank account is a major red flag.
Only one conclusion. I am no detective but I feel he has come to some kind of end.

I often travel to the DR for about a month at a time with enough cash for the trip, so in my case, there would be no red flag. I am in daily contact with people so my red flag would be the lack of contact. Regardless, it doesn't look good.

El Hijo de Manolo

It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous!

Most people aren't unbanked

And other people are not unbanked but enjoy the fact that it is possible to go about their lives in the DR w/o needing greedy banksters.

I can go weeks at a time in the DR w/o needing to use a bank card.

Us too, but we’re both semi-residents, not a one-week tourist. Unless he met a sugar mommy/daddy.

unless you are using straight cash and not using a cell phone or computer you can be tracked. It is not against the law to go missing, just weird. Sooner or later money will run out and a wire transfer would be used. As indicated, ghosting family and friends is inconsiderate and unkind possibly meaning a mental health issue.

An acquaintance of mine did have a mental health issue while here in the DR. He went off the radar and apparently slept rough for quite a while. Eventually he was arrested for making a disturbance at SDQ airport and was fortunate enough to get deported back to his home country.
