I am used to order China's stuff from Aliexpress via Miami through BMCargo.
Works great but I guess starting May 2 ,any purchases below $800 will be taxed to 120%.
I mainly buy small stuff such as electronic components.

I am wandering if some people have experience to buy from China and ship it directly to DR.

I can see from Aliexpress I can chose DR...but

What will be the taxed on items below $200 ?
Should I use some sort of PO box in DR ?

Thank you

Peace.

Anything under $200 USD is not taxed regardless of where it's coming from. Restrictions may apply.

Thank you . Is there any PO box service that I can set in the Cabarete/Sosua area to have my shipping address ?
Once I have this ,I will give it a try :)

Not sure.
Perhaps Windy, NorthCoastDiver (Mike) or ChicoBill can answer this question.

First they have to agree to ship here. Second you might die of old age before you get it.................

Yes .
I specified the address that I gave to Starlink and Aliexpress takes it .Just one click away to buy it.
It's a known address from DHL the shipping company that Starlink uses.

Would prefer using a different option which has worked for a DR1 user with Aliexpress.

iPhones are manufactured in China, primarily through contracted manufacturers like Foxconn. While Apple designs and develops the iPhones,
you can purchase them in Santo Dom, I don't know about Sosua.

Who told you that? They don't ship just your small package from China, it all comes in big bags with hundreds of small packages in them, and when they deliver your package to BM Cargo in Miami, they deliver another hundred packages with it all together.

Nobody knows at this point how they will deal with US Customs and how those tariffs will be applied, if they will be applied at all. Wait and see what happens first. They have to figure it out, not you. There's no way that US Customs will apply any customs duties to any of those small packages, it's too much work to do, they may apply it to all consolidated cargo all together, so those Chinese companies will pay it and somehow share it between customers, so probably they will just raise the prices. So you just wait and see what happens and will they raise the prices for orders to US only of for all countries to split the increase of their costs of export to US between all customers.

I am curious too. I regularly order electronic components and other small stuff from Aliexpress when I am in Europe, then pack everything and other stuff in a mudanza box and send it directly to our home in the DR. No extra taxes but this workaround requires some planning ahead.

No change for shipment from China to Europe. You will be fine.
Maybe ,we will become best friends. :)

If a shipment is ordered and documented from China to a DR address having an in-transit plane change at Miami it is not US taxable. If a shipment from China is documented to a US addressed forwarding courier, i.e., EPS, MBE, and ect., then it is US taxable,

Regards,

PJT
