I visit for 6 months out of the year broken into 2 or 3 visits. Why would banco reservas insurance division sell me a policy without a DR licence and when I asked if it was necessary they said NO... This is a bank, not some some corner insurance broker. Also I cannot find anywhere in the policy where it states a DR licence or Residency is necessary? I'm not adverse to getting residency but
I really didn't think I need it? I don't work or plan to ever in the DR...
I have been here a long time and never heard of a claim NOT being paid because of this. I have dual citizenship, so to me it is not an issue. But I know a lot of people that are on a tourist Visa and live here without problems like this one.
I'm not sure anybody will ever be proven 'right' or 'wrong' on this.....
but one thing is certain..... the color is grey.
It's an issue - like it or not - believe it or not - it's an issue
it really comes down to whether you take it on or not.
sort of like -
where there's smoke , there's fire - type of thing
I have made my position clear and only try to show others the possible pitfall.
forewarned is forearmed... huh?
