I tried Ria y'day..... less than 50 for a peso and big fees.
Back to Remitly .... and sending US$, not pesos

Money arrives in minutes from Wells Fargo to Banco Popular. I've never sent more than US$400, so I couldn't say about $500. There IS a monthly limit you can send without upgrading and paying more. I've been using Paysend all of this year, without problems, although inicially I did have to send proof of identity, which was a bit of a hassle.Maybe the limit has gone up? How long did it take and what exchange rate did you get? I've checked into quite a few posted here, and they have all ended up having a "catch", a hidden fee, or a problem - like long transfer times. I need a service where I can transfer at least $5000 USD, will arrive in a day or two, and cost less than a typical wire transfer fee of around $50 USD total.
You can send card-to-card but I imagine you would pay a cash-advance fee on your card in that case.No - it looks good but seems to need a bank account
Remitly's fees are also a bit cheaper than WU. I use both. Those using Remitely from states still happy with them? Or other ideas other than PayPal or Xoom. Ideally going into Banco Santa Cruz but can be picked up.
Remitly is cheaper, faster and less hassle hands down. Western Union has too many criteria. WU, after fees, more than Remitly. Also you're dealing with their antiquated system. I don't know what your point is about sending from a location, that would only apply to the unbanked or IRS/FBI duckersI've checked Remitly and all the others. Nobody beats Western Union when either sending from your bank account or a W.U. location for pickup here at a W.U. location in USD.
No way José. I've checked them all. Post actual amounts sent and received with exchange rates and fees. I've sent $900 USD for $10.99. $1500 USD for $13.99.Remitly is cheaper, faster and less hassle hands down. Western Union has too many criteria. WU, after fees, more than Remitly. From here in the DR, I send to Haiti and to the DR from either my USA bank's debit card or direct from checking. Remitly is always cheaper. However, I never check exchange rates. So it could even out in the end.I've checked Remitly and all the others. Who has to send money from a Publix? For 20 years I've sent myself and others money and never stepped foot in a grocery store to do it while I was stuffing my face with a ham, gabagool and provalone on Florida's version of bread. I think that may be the issue, it's much cheaper to do everything digitally. I do admit, 20 years ago we had to use WU it was the only game in town, but even then, it was connected to bank accountsNo way José. I've checked them all. A friend of mine used to send from a W.U. location in Florida. It was in a Publix. From a location, he paid $8.00 to send $900 USD. He just didn't want to link his account to W.U. and it was a little cheaper.
Ahhh Publix, the home of many first dates among bothers, sisters and cousins!
He shops at Publix all the time, so it's not like it's even an extra trip. No different than sending or picking up money at the W.U. in Janet's.Who has to send money from a Publix? W.U. has a very simple app, too. It takes me about 10 seconds to send myself money. They only called me the first time i sent more than $1000. It was less than a 2 minute call just confirming who I was. No big deal. It was like two-factor authentication.Adding for newbies: Remitly app just simplifies and streamlines everything. It takes 37 seconds to set a recipient up and get them any amount you wish, including yourself. They don't have a Karen investigation team either who call and interrogate you like they are the FBI for a minor transaction.
Without quoting exact amounts and fees, it's hard to compare. From here in the DR, I send to Haiti and to the DR from either my USA bank's debit card or direct from checking. Remitly is always cheaper. However, I never check exchange rates. So it could even out in the end.
The last time I checked Remitly's fees were almost a year ago, so maybe they've gone down(?). On some reviews, I read complaints about the money taking a long time to arrive. For transferring USD for USD, Cavok is correct but Remitly is really close to WU in the fees. Worth checking them both, perhaps depending on the amount transferred, Remitly could come out ahead. I compared for $1000 USD. However, if your goal is to exchange those dollars for DOP upon arrival, you need to run that math too. With Remitly, today would be an exchange rate of 56.98 and no fees to transfer $1000 USD. Not sure what the exchange rate is today at Caribe Express or similar...last I checked it was 58.
