Is this why IMF and the present adnimistration are so buddy-buddy?

.....Come on, this is really serious since the IMF board has already named an "interim" director-general...which means that the DR will have to figure out how to win his good graces...

the first accusation was not about rape though, just infidelity.
don't know what to make of this. if a guy with that kind of cloud and money, two weeks before he plans to announce he is going to run for president, has nothing better to do than to chase a maid naked through his 3000 dollar suite, he must be semi retarded. apart from counting on his friends in the dr government, he could have simply called an escort service. if the suite costs 3000 dollars a night, an extra 1000 for a hooker are certainly in his budget.
you would assume that somebody who managed to reach a position like he did stopped counting the number of enemies he has, and therefore knows better. on the other hand there was bill clinton, who stumbled from one sex scandal into the next because he could not keep his willy in check.

The only answer would be he's a sex addict like Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton.

They have a few loose screws that dominate their lives.

They can't help themselves.

Agreed with you CB.
Actually, a couple years ago, a journalist friend of mine told me so (I thought she was exaggerating). It may be a bad timing but who knows ??

Let's wait for the evidence...Forensics and DNA testing should be completed today.

The more I read about this guy the more the phrase "piece of work" leaps to mind. :tired:

Gotta love the international mandarins.

There was an interview on NBC this AM.... discussing whether another French politician had arranged this to make trouble for the opponent.... maybe the President
The answer was that he would do it closer to the election if were to do it..... not now, too far from voting day !!

How's that!! What a world

There are still a whole lot of people who believe in a conspiracy from opponents because he was by far the strongest contender against the present President. So I am not sure how they can say that, because regardless of the timeline and outcome of this rape accusation, it is safe to say that his presidential aspirations and political career is pretty much OVER.

Don't ask me.... he just said if he wanted to discredit him like that, he would do it closer to the election.

Ah, the French

On the other hand, some says he had so many skeletons in his closet, that they didn't need to "set him up" , LOL :)

By the way, the French are lot more liberal in the private lives of their politicians and public figures. While, we were amazed that Americans were ready to impeach a president over a blow job (I remember thinking: the most powerful man in the world could have done better, ah ah), BUT RAPE IS RAPE.

he was supposed to announce he was running for office in two weeks, and was on his way to paris to start political talks with his party. as was mentioned before, he was by far the strongest candidate, predicted to beat sarkozy in the first round of elections. now his chances of running in the socialist primaries, which he would have won by a landslide are more or less zero, which means the left will have a weak candidate because there is nobody else of his stature. this means that even though the french are sick of his antics, undecided, moderates and left leaning voters will vote for sarkozy in the elections, in order to prevent the populist and right wing candidate le pen from winning. furthermore, the french socialists are deeply divided internally, which means even somebody from within his own party could have arranged this, in order to strengthen his own chances of running. dsk is one of those "party elephants" who are said to have sabotaged the last candidate segolene royales run for office. he is also considered to be part of "la gauche caviar", which means he is well to do, and a member of the very closed circle of the french elite. therefore, a number of socialists think he is not a suitable candidate.
had this happened closer to the elections, it could have led to an anti establishment sentiments among voters, which means that the votes this would have cost the socialists would have gone to le pen and not sarkozy.
i'm not saying he is innocent and a victim here. but the notion that this could not have been arranged because it was the wrong timing is bogus to me, quite the opposite is true: the fact that this was the perfect time to take him out is the reason for people to speculate that this was staged.

ABC news reported he was having a long lunch with his daughter and was NOT rushing to the airport to flee the country... ?? What the heck.......

And seems the previous victims are coming out of the closet .... so to speak.

Rather than wallow in glee at this poor sod's misfortune I was thinking what can he do now?

His career is over so he has to think of something. Whether he's guilty or not is moot. Maybe his enemies took him down maybe he threw it all away for a beaner.

I would think he thoroughly enjoyed his trips to the DR. Maybe he could import Dominican street dogs to France and train them to sniff out truffles. Start a business and combine business trips with his 'hobby'.

When Yanandu comes back from Zanadu I'd love to get his take on it.

the guy was set up,PUNTO!
dominique stauss kahn is far too intelligent to run naked after a chambermaid and force her for a blow job.
the guy is a womanizer, everyone knew that, doesnt mean is a sexual offender.
of course they will find evidence,DNA etc... anything got a price.
the truth will come out eventually, unfortunately for him is gonna be too late.

May be he was, may he wasn't
I don't think Intelligence has nothing to do with Rape.
Intelligent people do stupid things everyday
Men in power and powerless men rape everyday.
You were not in the room, until you see the trial, you can NOT be that certain.
DNA has a price really ? you need to reopen these biology book ;)

Geez, if god forbids, my or your daughter ever gets assaulted, better pray that it is by a nobody :(

Rape is a crime of power not a crime of anything else. It is not about stupid or smart (although it is stupid in my opinion) It is a crime of men who NEED to be and feel powerful for whatever reason!

I would not be so fast to raise the "set up" defense. That might fly on French territory, or places like here, but I doubt that will fly in the USA.

this is what I loved
The Rights of a Chambermaid - Rasmussen Reports?

"Made me proud to be an American. No matter that Strauss-Kahn was a top contender for president of France. No matter that the chambermaid is an immigrant from Africa. The staff at the fancy Sofitel New York, where he was staying in a $3,000-a-night suite, immediately called 911 to report the alleged attack. The evidence against Strauss-Kahn was strong enough to warrant an arrest, and arrested he was.
Special protection for Mr. Big was not forthcoming. No one, it appears, was taking a payoff to make Strauss-Kahn's troubles go away. No calls reportedly arrived from the power halls of Washington or Wall Street to smooth things over for this man of enormous political and financial clout. That Europe's future rested on his shoulders did not outweigh the rights of the faceless woman who cleaned hotel rooms."
