Right...you only want to hear you how smart you were in getting a bargain. Good luck in getting your money back in this country. You know what they say about being curious don't you? Better yet if you have nothing good to add then say nothing!!

No I haven't but when I enter their phone number (849 208 0893) on WhatsApp and access their contact info there's a map. I would have uploaded a copy of the contact page but I don't seem able to do so.That is not an addrees I recognise. Do you have a Street Name?
NO, I don't actually. I have read enough of these posts to know that for every post there's at least one keyboard jack ass who, with nothing of substance to add, has to show his superior intelligence.Right...you only want to hear you how smart you were in getting a bargain. Go into the settings panel of the board, and block them, under privacy settings, or just ignore the senile expats with nothing else better to do!Thanks for all the sensible responses. One other request please. Can someone sensible advise me on how to block unwanted idiots
Actually, Facebook is a good place to buy stuff assuming the seller is active on the site with lots of friends. In this case it sounds like the seller is there to rip people off. Facebook won't help you much but would be happy to shut that little business down as it makes them look bad.Right...you only want to hear you how smart you were in getting a bargain. When a friend of mine had a renter disappear with various items of household goods and furniture from an apartment she owns, she had no idea where they or the items had gone. Enter the police, who, for a price, quickly tracked down the goods in a house about 300 metres from where they were stolen. The goods had been sold on to an innocent buyer and we had to wait a while while to recover the goods she finished cooking lunch with the stolen cooker and gas tank! This worked for us ..back in 2015…. when a car parts dealer in SD knowingly sent the wrong part for Miesposa’s car….and then decided …no returns , or refunds… and that he was going keep the $1,000USD she paid .Two months of back and forth …police …abogado….trying to reason with him ?…nothing .
One call to her Dominican Tio…ex police. He went there and came back with $900 USD….( took $100 for his expenses) ….case solved …all within an hour….not sure how he did it or what happened … 🤭🤭🤭🤭but sometimes Dominican intervention works…for us at least🇩🇴
Thanks I will inform them but I am not quite sure whether I can do it Santo Domingo and it gets passed on or should I go to PN in Sosua. When a friend of mine had a renter disappear with various items of household goods and furniture from an apartment she owns, she had no idea where they or the items had gone. In this case, the police's local knowledge was invaluable in achieving what we could never have done. As far as I know, the thieves have never been caught though.
Do you mind if I ask how many pesos you lost? Thanks I will inform them but I am not quite sure whether I can do it Santo Domingo and it gets passed on or should I go to PN in Sosua.
PN in Sosua. Assuming you're not Dominican, you would probably have to pay someone a little up front to get them moving and then a "reward" it they get results. Thanks I will inform them but I am not quite sure whether I can do it Santo Domingo and it gets passed on or should I go to PN in Sosua.
You get taken in a idiotic scam and Im the jack ass. Hmmmm. Interesting. To me you will be scammed again and again with your attitude.NO, I don't actually. considering the amount lost I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle.PN in Sosua. Assuming you're not Dominican, you would probably have to pay someone a little up front to get them moving and then a "reward" it they get results.
Unable to access settings as it seems I haven't yet made enough posts so, after my latest frustrating response to my "stalker", I've decided to follow the second part of your advice and ignoreGo into the settings panel of the board, and block them, under privacy settings, or just ignore the senile expats with nothing else better to do!
Yes oh wise, one this is indeed a clear case of fraud. First et me lay it on you so you understand. Unlike you oh perfect wise one I make stupid mistakes. I am a foreigner no doubt like yourself, in a foreign country and unable to speak or understand the language. I have made many purchases online and have often paid cash on delivery or gone to collect. Now here's the kicker. My partner and child was away visiting her family and I wanted to surprise her with the phone she had been lusting after, and yes I could have visited any one of the many phone shops in SDO, BUT, I saw the post which seemed too good to be true but nevertheless I followed my heart instead of my head. Truth is I was not thinking straight and was feeling good that I found what she wanted at a price that wasn't going to bankrupt me. Unfortunately, not being as perfect as you and my current "keyboard stalker", when the alarm bells started going off before and after I sent the money I ignored it to my detriment. So yes I accept that I am in the wrong but did not post here to seek sympathy as I have my own way of dealing with these situations, regardless. My intention for posting was clearly stated. I wanted ADVICE regarding my options, which quite frankly most of the respondents have provided. MOST. So oh perfect wise one you and my stalker are quite welcome to your wonderings and opinions but do note I sought advice regarding my options, not your wonderings, whys and any other musings. Not everyone is as astute, wise or perfect but we do get by despite our imperfections. Hope this provides you with much satisfaction, and by the way it's pointless responding because it will not be read but if it makes you feel good, stem on.Why? I buy things from shops all the time after seeing a Whatsapp photo and talking to the shop and they always turn up. I pay using bank transfer.
As I keep saying this is a clear case of fraud and I don't understand why the police haven't been involved. They are who you go to whenever a crime happens to you. Not social media
You say that but I've made some very good purchases on there. The most recent being a 2020 MacBook Air, which I actually visited the store to buy it. Appreciate what you say, just wanted to surprise the little lady and show some appreciation.Never, ever, no matter how tempted, buy something on Facebook
Round here we often refer to it as experience. Welcome to the club. I will be the first to admit there's not a single one of us (living down here full-time) on this forum who has not learned a similar lesson (involving money) the hard way.NO, I don't actually. I have read enough of these posts to know that for every post there's at least one keyboard jack ass who, with nothing of substance to add, has to show his superior intelligence.
Have you tried calling the store from another phone? Have a native speaker call and try to resolve the problem?considering the amount lost I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle.
