I think you are missing the point. There probably will not be enough passengers to fill the plane on a daily basis. Some of them may also be getting to Sosua via STI.

Has JetBlue announced it will be a daily flight?

I mean so many options: e.g., daily during the high seasons of people flying to DR, twice-weekly during the shoulder season, weekly during the low season.

I'd say it is. But the following could also be a little likely: add more flights to Santiago and has, take your pick, a few/some/mostly all/maybe all/ stop in Puerto Plata on their way there, as I believe some European airlines do in Samana on their way to Punta Cana.

I fly out of EWR all the time and would never, ever consider JFK unless the flight is free. With the hopeful addition of the Jet Blue flights what gap will it fill? Is it cheaper flights? If so, how much cheaper could it be? I know you don't know for sure but what do you think?

Currently is AA the only airline to do POP flights? Are the AA flights nonstop?

as a gringo tourist coming to POP in november via STI on JetBlue I would def use JetBlue to POP in the future. I live in Jersey and do prefer EWR but JetBlue makes it so easy to use my amex miles - 25k for a flight that they crush the other airlines for my business when I do pay. I think if JetBlue markets it properly many people will give POP a try.

We were in Cancun for a weekend in early September, and feel that POP gives us much better value - even with airfare a bit higher the rates in country in the DR make up for it. We were happy to be going to the DR even with a lengthy transfer from Santiago. Knowing I could land in POP means I will be doing a lot more kite surfing, and having many more beers at Rocky's than I originally envisioned. Even if the flight isn't daily I will still look to use it.

There are no nonstops on AA between JFK and POP. I would be overjoyed if JB flew into POP.

From my usual destination, to fly AA to POP is three or four flights, sometimes over two days. On the other hand, I can fly Jet Blue with one stop into Santiago. If they also flew into POP, I could eliminate that dead of the night arrival with consequent drive to POP.

I don't understand how people think that a non-stop from JFK-POP would not be popular.

Regardless of whether the plane will be 90% full of dominicans or tourists, the flight will be PACKED.

You bet your booties it will, specially if it's reasonably priced.
People on the North coast are always complaining that more direct flights from the NYC area are needed.

i know i'd use jetblue more if the price was right and if they flew into POP. i've used then into STI in the past and they now fly into SDQ...although generally they are not as cheap into SDQ as STI. ideally i'd fly into POP and out of SDQ, or the reverse, on an 8 or 9 day trip! HEAVEN!:bunny::bunny:

I don't think JetBlue enters a market with their eyes wide shut, as Stanley Kubrick would say.

Jet Blue Prices

What is the big deal about the so called cheap prices with JetBlue? I have a ticket EWR-SDQ with Continental that I paid $345. The same dates with JetBlue but JFK-SDQ is $385. I fail to see the bargain.

People living in the NYC area aren't the only ones on that plane. Many people connect to that flight from the "north country" and for them JetBlue is usually the cheapest option. More and more canadians are flying out of Burlington, Vermont for its close location to Montreal and Buffalo for it's close location to Toronto.

I want to know when Jet Blue is going to start flying to Canada! Don't they know that people who live in igloos like to vacation sometimes too. ;)

Go to JetBlue.com and voice your opinion. You need a personal driver to take you to the DR just holler, I saw your mug shot! WOW!

"JetBlue filed at the Transportation Department to begin flying to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, saying it was prepared to start service from Kennedy in January."

-Travelweekly.com

First let me say that I am not questioning your information, just trying to verify it.

I get a daily update from Travelweekly.com and I have searched my saved e-mails as well as using the search function on the Travelweekly.com website and I cannot find this announcement.

Do you have a link to the story or can you tell me where your information came from?

Lemme just say

Travel Weekly I see sometimes and don't know the sources of their info, but I can tell you that JetBlue has filed with the local dominican authorities to begin daily flights beginning in January from JFK to POP. that doesn't mean they are automatically approved and it doesn't mean it is 100% but other sources also tell me that is their intention to begin in January with an A-320 with 150 seats a day, mas o menos. When the wheels touch down we'll know for sure, beyond that.........................I can't say.
