It does not say that directly, but it does state that the state is taking measures to freeze any and all assets pertaining to the companies he has to do with, also as a precaution during the investigation to secure that all the victims could get what they would be granted to get. He's apparently not suspected of anything, this is just a normal procedure. But it does beg the question, why would he try to do any such action right now? Interesting indeed.

Not quite sure what it says here. Anyway it is from Listin Diario.

He attempted to transfer some of his assets to other people or entities and the prosecutor's office (some how) prevented him from doing so (even tho he's not yet been charged for any crimes?)
Interesting.

What I said/meant was that the article did not make that direct accusation, but the idea is there. Yes, we read the same article.

The news forum usually quotes the main papers here so we will see what it says next week.

According to Dominican Today the Senate has allocated RD$3 million for survivors and families affected by Jet Set tragedy.
At last count I believe the death toll was 232 and this isn't counting all of the injured survivors.
Quick Math.
Your thoughts?

I'm not sure what the senate was thinking, if you can call it that. Maybe it's just a stop gap until whatshisname starts paying out the big bux.

That's around 13k pesos per victim at that number. Sure they get a lot of respect... I hope that's a joke or something...

I saw somewhere the owners lawyer denied any attempts of transferring assets from the company of the nightclub.

If so, I think that's just clever lawyer talk. He might not be transferring assets out of the nightclub, but the article claimed that assets were in the process of being transferred out of many properties that were linked to the owner.

As I was reading it for the first time I thought to myself that they must have made an error and meant per person. It was still an insulting low amount

I think we are quite passive here. Just trying to understand the local news about it.
This is one reason I often times don't even follow daily news here. The journalism practiced here sometimes just gives me a headache... Everything that I was taught about writing, working with sources...

I don't really know. How do you understand it ?
In the first article, it said that based on "information" (literally what the article stated) Espaillat was doing something he should not have been doing. I did not see any reference as to what/where/when did this "information" come from....

That's how I understood it too. But still, 13k per person is not really that much if you have lost that said person, I would think...
