Did you see the rescue staff being references somewhere? I can't find that in the article you linked. Just that "desaprensivos" use those...
I have no intention to paint everybody working there with this "black brush". I'm sure that the vast majority of the rescue personal is working their ass off and even put their lives in danger for saving others. But this does not change the ugly facts of a few others mentioned in prior posts.

Very true, I agree.

Meanwhile, learned this morning that a cousin of Mr AE worked at JetSet. His brother is going to her home today praying that she survived.

I didn't mean that you would have "black brushed" anyone, I know you didn't. My only question was if you saw this somewhere as you talked about rescue workers. That's all.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...they are ANIMALS.
I disagree.
I believe there are more good people in this country than bad. That said, back in Oct 2014 I was in an accident while riding in a publico in S.D.E near the intersection of Charles de Gualle y Mendoza. The two people who helped me out of the car to sit on the curb managed to take both my card holder/ wallet with a few hundred pesos and my house keys. I figured shit happens in life no reason to hate people and that karma would eventually catch up to both of them at some point in the future 😄

I rarely post on this site, but I wanted to give my deepest condolences to the victims and their families during this tragedy! As a former resident and frequent traveler of this country. Many of us have attended concerts and large clubs in this country and it could have been any of us at the Jet Set just to enjoy a show like we've done numerous times before.

Very true for many of us. Families are still waiting on news of their loved ones. We know of 3 people still missing. This tragedy has had a personal impact on so many. It is still so hard to believe.

I recall many problems with different kinds of buildings or constructions (bridges etc.) collapsing or being damaged and there have been victims as well, but I also do not recall anything of this magnitude.

For me personally, I would rather focus on the victims and their families. All the other stuff that is being said/written, the facts will come out eventually.

I have been several times to JetSet but almost 20 years ago now. They always had live music when I went. It hits different somehow when you see people just having a great time and all of a sudden disaster hits. Dominicans doing what they do best. Dancing, singing and having fun. Very sad.

The DR at his finest !!!!
I hate to be the negative a..hole again but i just have to.
All big Gas Station chains issued an alert.
It looks like that Rescue Personal is stealing credit cards from the insured and deceased
and they are being widely used but mostly in gas stations.
You can't make this shit up.
The banks should review who of the victims have (has?) an account(s) with them and automatically freeze the accounts and the credit cards.

Well, that was fast. in 3 days, they gave the final clear, no more bodies. Seems 221 deaths and 189 injury is the final number? Now the property is empty esp. the wall around still stands. I'm not sure what happens, next, demolish or make repairs or what? This blows my mind, 3 days at 24/7 work - that's amazing timeline I must say.

Whatever they do, the name Jet Set is done.

Quite frankly, they should take the site of that building* that was modified and affected by a fire, and simply use the site to create a monument and perhaps a wall with the names of all the victims, gardens, park/plaza like, etc.

The names Jet Set and that site should be done to make it any other commercial/residential/office space.

* Which was built when most construction workers we’re Dominicans.

Agreed.
No way will another business be built on this property with so many people losing their lives. Dominicans are way too superstitious and out of respect for those who passed, this site will end up being a memorial.

Total agree. I would like to see 'Jet Set Memorial Park" with nice bench and trees and maybe one wall on the back will become plaque with all of the victims. This will give respect. Also Jet Set name should be retired, for good.

Doesn't clearing the site mess up the efforts to determine what caused this? I would have assumed that aside from obviously clearing out the poor victims, no one can touch anything until all the investigation is done?

I guess the answers are in your questions… It’s the way it goes.

That’s correct. When disasters of this type involving a large loss of life occur in North America, multi agency forensics investigations are carried out after the dead and injured are removed and rescued, before the debris is removed. Not the case in the DR.

They have sealed the broken wall so there will be nothing to look at by curious people. The street may open up tomorrow.
