Photos!!

Just so everyone can see that Isaida is growing, I am posting three photos.

First, the original one taken before she had any medication.

nvearr.png

In that photo, she is very tiny, as can be seen from the comparison to the adult standing near her.

This photo was taken in March of 2013. Note the height on the growth scale.

The photo below was taken this morning.

She has grown almost three inches since March!

I keep saying that we are making a difference, now you can see it with your own eyes.

June Financial Update

The funds accounting spreadsheet can be seen here:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25690614/Isaida Naomi - Funds Accounting.xls

I am leaving for the US on business on Monday and will return in October. In order that Isaida can continue to get her medicine each month, I have exchanged enough dollars (and used pesos on hand) to cover the medication purchases of July, August and September. The person tasked with the purchases will scan and email me the purchase receipts each month and I will post them here.

After adding in June's donations and subtracting $303.45 ($259.76 for July and $43.69 for September) I have $190.93 on hand for the purchase of the October dose. The RD $19,500 was divided into RD $10,650 for August and the balance of $8,850 was used for September. The remaining RD $1,800 came from the exchange of $43.69 at a tasa of 41.2.

A few more donations and we'll have her October dose covered too!

For those of you who have Microsoft Publisher, here is a link to a photo page I put together to show her growth progress.

hello, everyone, I apologize in advance because the number of post was so high I just only read the first page. But This topic in particular is very dear to my heart and my mind. I know that this is one girl in particular and that this is her post or subject matter. I would like to help, contribute for support but not just for her but to other kids or sponsor a child in the Dominican Republic. I have found so many sites and groups that either you can't choose the country. I help send money to my family but I mean like to other children in Dominican Republic in specific. Does that exist? Okay well, helping this little girl maybe as far as I can go with that idea, so let me know and thanks for the pictures and updates and just the information in general, you are a great man. As there are great men and women of DR1, always lead the way with kindness, support, and greatness of spirit and love. Gracias a todos!!! Take care and God bless,
Biggs

July Purchase Receipt

Isaida's July dose was purchased on July 24, 2013. The scan of the receipt can be seen at:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25690614/Medication Purchase - July 2013.pdf

I received thirty dollars in donations in July. Later, I'll be posting a link to the updated spreadsheet.

Anyone who is interested in donating, I am currently in the US. You can use the PayPal address, if you have it, or if you would rather send a check, please PM me for the US address to use.

Isaida's medicine is covered until the October purchase. I have a portion of that money already.

Also, some good news - maybe. I am working with someone in the US who is considering making a monthly donation of $100 towards the cost of the medicine. If that happens, we'll be in great shape to provide the rest of the months of medication that Isaida needs.

I met La Profe for lunch last month while she was nearby, she's the real deal when it comes to commitment and dedication.

And I forgot to write her a check for my pledge. Can you PM me your address Profe?

I just arrived to Puerto Plata yesterday. I will see her this week hopefully and perhaps have a new photo.

There are receipts for medication purchases that need to be scanned, then I can post a link so anyone interested can see.

I have received some additional funds, so her medicine is covered for October and November, which is good news!

Once I recover from the trip, I'll update the spreadsheet and post a link to that too.

Update

Thanks to all who have donated recently, including AlterEgo, Bonao99, Santiagodude and J & T's Future!

I am posting links to the receipts for the purchase of Saizen in

August: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25690614/Medication Purchase - August 2013.pdf

September: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25690614/Medication Purchase - September 2013.pdf

Once I update the funds accounting, I will post a link to that spreadsheet.

Thanks to some very generous donors I met in the US, we have funds for the next four months. Isaida needs 18 more months of medication, so we have to pull together to provide the last year of the treatment course for Isaida.

Thanks to Rob and AE for allowing me to post this.

I live in Puerto Plata and do what I can to help those who have real and documented needs. My latest project is rather different since I normally work with issues that affect larger groups of people. However, this is for a very little girl. Here is her photo:

nvearr.png

Isaida Naomi is eleven years old, but as you can see from the photo, she is very tiny - the size of a five or six year old. Her pituitary gland is not functioning correctly and as a result she suffers from a lack of human growth hormone. A pediatric endocrinologist at the Clinica Infantil Dr. Robert Reid Cabral in Santo Domingo has prescribed three years of treatment with Saizen (Serono) .6 mg a day. Unfortunately, this is a very expensive medicine and her family cannot pay the $9,900 pesos a month it costs. The prescription is for three years of medication.

I realize that the total cost is beyond the ability of most people to pay. However, she received, from CONANI, six months of medicine. In that time, she grew six inches! Each month will make a difference.

I am asking the DR1 community to help. Whatever can be obtained will make a measurable difference for this child. She still needs thirty months of medication in order to grow and develop normally. If we could provide several more months of medication, it would be a huge help.

Because of my work, I am in a position to be able to give tax-deductible receipts (US and DR) for donations to this cause. I will provide receipts and will also provide copies of proof of purchase of the medication and, if desired, data on her growth and development. I have available right now digital copies of the prescription, the price quotation and of letter sent to the manufacturer in Santo Domingo in 2010 (which was ignored).

Can we pull together to make a difference in this little girl's life?

count me in. i know where to find you. we will talk about what i can do if you are going to be in the office tomorrow.
