Very interesting.

Have never been inside, not in the old place, nor the new one. But the closed enviroment in "Passions" is way better than the alternative we see at night with all the working girls running around the town.

I hope it is an misunderstanding, and he will be released (if innocent in these "drug charges", if they are genuine).

For now i would think putas. Peter said he was set up years ago when he ran some sort of juice bar on or near the beach. He was careful about drugs. But nothing surprises me when it comes to whore bars.

I would be careful about the rumor mill on this one. Lets wait until reliable news comes out. I suggest the mods mod this closely. He has no problem with bringing people to court.

According to a YouTube video I saw, he drug tests the girls every week. Refusal to test means you get fired. I'm sure the trafficking is referring to the girls.

Someone with Peter's savvy is going to have this kind of thing planned out years ahead of time. He'll prob be open by the end of the week after *taking care* of the right officials. I was talking to him once at the Shark Bar after Lou got arrested (for breaking up a cat fight involving his ex-GF and a bartender) and he seems to know the system very well.

Why does someone get arrested for breaking up a fight?

Happened around 2006.

Lou's ex-GF thought he was sleeping with a bartender and came into the bar around noon and just starts clawing at her. She doesn't have any idea what's going on but does her best to defend herself. Lou grabs the ex-GF and drags her out to the street and some jackass on a passing moto-concho decides he's attacking her and smashes a beer bottle over his his head. That stops the fighting, but the cops come and haul everyone off to POP and Lou ends up paying to get everyone out. I seem to remember it was on a Friday and he was closed all day. I think in all Lou took about a $1000 hit.

I don't know if it ever made it to court, but it's another example of when in doubt, arrest the guy who has the most money.

I always liked Lou even if the bar was more of a hobby than a business. He came and gave me some first aid when I had a run in with La Bruja, but that's another story.

Yeah that's the irony of Passions. You get hassled less by the girls there than at the discos and you don't have to worry about getting your wallet stolen.

Here's an update from the Facebook page belonging to Cubadave that Viajero posted earlier in the thread-

Here's the update -7-23-10:28 am -- Peter's family informed me in person that NO!! drugs were found the place was clean --- he was "detained" for a previous law suit from a former employee that said he owed her money. Peter had a hearing today and several places were raided for drugs and IDs. No problems anywhere, and everything in Sosua is just fine.

The "rescuing" of prostitutes and charges of human trafficking are probably the fiscal's way of making a name for himself, or Peter didn't pay off the right person, which after years of incredible expansion seems unlikely. Peter is tuned into the politics of Sosua like no other cat out there.

The poor souls who lost their lives on the Titanic needed to be rescued, not these ho's from Passions. Pu-leeze.

I would think the charge of procuring prostitution is really what is going on here. BUT, after talking to 32 chicas working for him that might think he has a strong pimp hand i couldn't imagine what stories they told the police investigators.

I was thinking the same thing. That this is a way to implement the new directive from the prosecutor general to go after those "pimping" using the code word "trafficking".
