Most masseuse's in Juan Dolio charge about RD$350-400 for a message. I'm not sure of the exchange rate at the moment (but I hear it's around 21-1US$) so that would be about $20US per 40-45 minute session. Last 1 hr massage I had in March I paid 500 pesos for. You'll find things a little more expensive in the Boca Chica/Juan Dolio area (I haven't a clue why except that maybe the quality of the hotels is higher thus tourists with more $$$ to spend or just because it's more a tourist area and not a "local" area so we tend to get charged higher "tourist" prices for everything!)

Thanks, Ken and MommC. I will go to the legal board to ask the questions regarding regulation. I now have made two contacts (MommC and Marina) who I can email off board with further questions.

I hope I didn't come off as "full of myself" as a therapist. I would welcome the opportunity to pass on what I know to other therapists in the Dr, especially native Dominicans. I want to give back to any newfound country I chose to inhabit.

Looking forward to my visit and future discussions on the board.

Thanks again,

Tondra

This is a very old thread, Tondra are you still alive. Did you find AZB and or there any massage therapy schools in the DR. I have found a massage theraist in Constanza, way up in the mountains and she was trained here I am sure nd she did a good job. Not quite up to the standards I am used to from state side or European trained therapist. But theraputic. Billy
