meeting girls in Santa Domingo

Hey people.....This is my first post so please be nice as not to scare me away...:)
I came to the DR last winter and had a great time. I was really struck by how beautiful and nice the girls were.
In Santa Domingo I met some cute girls, but not all that many. On my last night, I ended up at a disco on a boat in the harbor and there I met the most beautiful girl I think I've ever seen. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone can actually suggest a nice place to go in S.D to meet classy girls. I'm hoping to meet someone who has an education, speaks english and has a good family backround. I realize that I could meet this person anywhere, but I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a certain cafe or restaurant that caters to that clientell more than others? HOpe you can help...cheers

While not impossible the chances of you meeting that type of girl in a club (or anywhere else in the island) are slim. Mostly because they are always surrounded by family and friends. There's no way a girl like that w/b on her own. Not in the DR. You can meet plenty of beautiful women, but not with those qualifications.

because they are always surrounded by family and friends? REally....that's ok ....isn't it? I'm a decent guy, I'm sure if I met a nice girl, her family and friends would love for her to be with me...anywho, lets just say I could get over the hurdels...can you suggest anywhere, like a university hang out or something? I suppose the qualifications are somewhat flexible....If her english was limited that would be ok, I'm just looking for classy dminican girls...

Perhaps one of our younger male posters w/b best suited to answer your question as I have no idea where the younger crowd hangs out these days (I'm in my 30s and married) different crowd altogether. I just wanted to inform you of the difficulties you may encounter in finding that type of girl in the DR. Have fun and let us know how you made out.

I might as well live there....

I can't stay away. I was born there but live in NYC. My family is scattered all over the country. A big chunk in the capital.

Welcome aboard...

First of all, it's Santo Domingo. If you want to meet an educated Dominican girl, you must know this.

Try hanging around La Alliance Fran?aise. Most girls there speak two-three languages and have been exposed to different cultures, so therefore should be able to converse with you intellectually. INTEC is another good option and strategic site.

As far as meeting a classier type of girl in a club/restaurant, try Trio Cafe, Pepperoni or Friday's, and check out a few places around la Avenida 27 de febrero and Ensanche Naco as well.

Good family background? Depends on the girl. But if you want someone with more solid, traditional family values, I suggest you go to the Cibao region of the country. Hopefully you're a good judge of character. Good luck.

Oh, and cover your assets, liquid!

Meeting Classy Dominican girls :)

Finally a decent sounding guy wants to come meet a nice girl..not a cheap thrill seeker coming to DR to prey on women.:) YEAH! I hope you find a nice educated girl who can keep your interests. Look in the archives on DR1 there may be some others before you with that same question. I am sure the regulars on DR1 will inform you of the best places so stay tuned! Good Luck! Pam

The main obstacle you will find in meeting the girl with those qualifications you desire will be your background.
Where are you from? Just because you are from the US or the UK do not think for a moment that they will consider you an equal. Are you educated? How are your social graces? What is your family and ethnic background? It matters..trust me. Most women of that social status do not associate with tourists.

Hey I am a decent guy! All my wifes say so!

If you have hijacked AZB's handle consider yourself locked out of DR1.

I suggest one of you emails or PM's me with a very good excuse.

Let this be a warning to all, if I see anyone hijacking handles on here or in the chat they will be locked out of DR1 permanently.

I don't like it and don't find it funny. This rule applies to ALL, I couldn't careless if you have 1 post or a 10,000.

I suggest you read the thread and the quotes, take a deep breath before running around like a scolded cat. It wasn't directed at you.

By the way, I live in the DR (Santo Domingo) and I think you stand very little chance as a tourist of finding the love of your life in the social circle your looking at.

The DR is full of nice or good girls, but it's also full of nice and good guys that have the advantages of knowing the language, have the family and also the "social acceptable" tag.

Then again, you never know your luck in the big city...

This is an interesting point I hadn?t even remotely considered. I am University educated with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, I am young, good looking a own a very successful business in Canada. I though these might be very good qualifications for just about anyone, in any country. However, I can see your point. I suppose there must be some young, cute, and well off Dominican men which would be much more appealing than me on a cultural level.
But maybe you?ve misunderstood me when it comes to what kind of girl I?m looking for. What I was basically saying is that I?m looking for someone with whom I?ll be able to communicate with (hence the English), someone who?s been well raised by two loving parents (which is what I meant by family background), and the education part was in hopes of finding someone who?s been exposed to the world a little. I?m just being picky in hopes of meeting someone that I could have a real relationship with, one based on shared qualities and backgrounds.
When you say ?what is your family and ethnic background?, I wonder how important one?s ethnic background is to a Dominican girl. Is being Caucasian looked down upon?

On the contrary it is a plus. There are 100's of posts that cover that subject. Suffice to say you will have trouble seperating the Good From the bad.
The odds of you hooking up with a girl that is from a decent family and educated are good. What I was talking about where the girls from the true "elite" class. The Dominican Upper Crust so to speak.

You may be able to get what you want but you're not going to find it so fast unless you are really lucky.

You have to spend some time on the island, get to know the different crowds and learn a little bit of the language.

What you consider acceptable I think is reachable. Not all educated decent girls have to belong to an "upper crust".

Good luck.

No, the upper crust doesn?t interest me at all. The problem here is that all the girls seem to think they are a part of this crust, and it drives me nuts. I?m so tiered of having to break through the walls girls put up here to protect themselves. It seems like the girls here are so insecure about themselves that they can?t have fun flirting, they can?t just look you deep in the eyes and show you they?re interested. That?s what I loved about the DR. When I was there, it just seemed like there were no walls. If you were interested in someone, and they were interested in you too, then that was all that was necessary. There was a playful magic about the way I interacted with girls there that felt natural and made me feel alive. But I have to admit that more than once when I met someone who seemed to really turn me on, there was very little point in getting too serious because I simply couldn?t communicate. And I love to talk and communicate, so this is why meeting someone who could speak some English, or at least wants to learn would be so nice. But I don?t care if the girl comes from a poor family, I just want to meet someone who has a rich heart?.you know?

It?s funny because I went out last night with a friend to a local bar here in Montreal, and one of his friends joined us. Well, it turns out that when I brought up the DR, he had lots to say because about ten years ago, his father met a Dominican girl and they got married. Apparently, he says that his impression is that Dominican girls make very devoted partners. And that his fathers wife is not only beautiful, but an amazing person as well who actually took the time to learn French so that she could communicate with his family! What a sweetie. I?m pretty sure I?ll have no problems finding what I want there. For me the biggest challenge will be language. When I was there last time I basically hung out at the cafes, restaurants and bars in the colonial zone. I really didn?t know where to go other than that. Not speaking Spanish, it?s a little intimidating trying to roam around the city, and even when I did, I never seemed to get anywhere. Next time I?m there, maybe I?ll try hiring a local to show me the spots where to go chill.

Also, I meant to ask the person who told me to check out the women of the Cibao region why they figure there are some girls with good family backgrounds there. What is different about this place?
