just today i was walking with the coworker planning to get a concho from the next corner, wanting to be polite coworker asked the driver if he can take me to jose luis for 20 pesos and driver barked "30!". i simply walked another corner, stopped another motoconcho and gave him 20 pesos when he got me to the shop. if he wanted to aks for more my face expression must have stopped him :)
miesposo laughed at my story, he knows for me it's a matter of principle.
(i told him i don't care, i need my own car before we build the house, motoconchos - even thou i hardly ever use them - give me heart problems...)

It's good to ask first, my third trip to Sosua I agreed to pay a barber 150 pesos for a haircut, when I got out of his chair, after a shave also, he demanded 700 pesos, I was peeved and gave him 600 pesos, later finding out the going rate is 100 pesos, inclusive....

Americans and Dominicans sometimes are expected to pay different prices. And I hate to have that heated discussion when i'm in the barbers chair getting a shave with a straight razor, which did happen to me once.

Go to Montellano for a haircut. The price is 80-100 pesos depending on which barber you choose. The barbers are good there...

When I want to go to Bergantin beach I pay a motoconcho 50 pesos to take me to the beach through the sugar cane fields. I don't ride on it, I just follow him. It's a maze to get to the beach and I hate getting lost.

Finding the route to Bergantin beach through the cane fields is as simple as following the power lines Tigure. Save the RD50 for beer!;)

Maybe a 10 min walk from the road. As for taking a car to the beach- we drove dunes buggys to Bergantine 2yrs ago, would not drive one of MY cars on the "wide path" our gude took us. Maybe a different way to go??
