Wow! Has this thread been hijacked! I was planning on following through with.a report on my return,
But it is clear that it would be lost in the noise generated by the same small group, rehashing the same tired
arguments that I have seen beaten to death over the last few years.
May I suggest you all get a hobby other than trashing other peoples' attempts at learnimg .

You can still use the paper forms until January apparently. After that electronic QR code only. We'll see how and if it works in the new year. When has the govt here ever been able to keep a website working properly?

I am not missing any points here. I have actually read the laws on these topics. Here are two points some people don't like to get:

1) The ability to extend a tourist card beyond 30 days is not covered by any DR laws. After 30 days, the actual laws state you are an illegal alien.

2) Drivers licenses are covered by a different government agency and are valid for 90 days. NOT 120 DAYS.
It’s 6 months legally if you have international drivers license...but you know this already..

Has anyone actually tried the overstay website? I've tried a couple times, but they have issues with the site will never left me finish. Also had a group come in last week and they only wanted the paper forms, don't think thay had anyway to scan the codes yet- this was SDQ
Yes I have, and it worked and was simple.

Please please can someone tell me if you can print out the PDF and bring it with you. And like others are saying please stop hijacking this thread to talk about overstaying it's not helpful to those of us who really want to know about the new form.

That’s what I’m planning to do in February when I return. Get my clearance number on the migration website to purchase my ticket, make a PDF copy, place it on my Iphone desktop as an icon and print off a hard copy. That should cover all the bases. If my phone fails on arrival, I show the hard copy clearance number to migration, they confirm it on their computer, and I should be good to go. The migration website advises you to create a PDF file for your clearance number.

The resulting pdf e-ticket file spit out by the website looks like the attachment below. There is no human readable number on it so whatever you present, a phone, computer screen or paper needs to be scannable by whatever equipment is in use at the airport check in and immigration.

Note: the info on the e-ticket below is completely false and no one should consider using it to enter or leave the DR.

Filling out the form leaving the DR is easy. Entering is NOT. Would like to hear from anyone that has completed the form to Enter the DR. Next to impossible.

I just did it inbound start to finish using made up info. The other day there were problems getting dates entered properly and some origin/destination airports. That seems to be working better now. How long the site remains functional is anyone's guess at this point. Still need to see if a paper printout is going to be acceptable to the authorities or if they really want to scan that QR Code from some type of mobile device. I can foresee problems if the QR code is too big or too small to scan properly from a printout. I think this is going to be very messy because Murphy's law kind of suggests the website will work fine when you do not really need it to work. But as soon as you wish to come or go, we all know the website is going to fail.

I also had difficulty in filling out the form - in English. The app was quite 'buggy'. After failing a few times
to complete the form (Date entry was a big problem) I restarted it in Spanish. The date entries worked!
Persevere!

Website needs polishing. Doesn't work on Safari for Mac or IOS, but does work with Chrome.

Anybody tried it on FireFox??
I've used both Firefox and a Chromium derivative browser successfully. If one is having difficulty I use the other. It is a tedious form to fill out and not particularly well designed. I suspect it will be difficult for the authorities to keep it working as intended. I certainly haven't seen any way to easily an directly report problems filling out the form. Nor do I have any confidence that the govt is able to quickly fix any reported issues.

I predict a mess for both travelers and the govt come January. when the switch goes completely online and the paper forms are no longer available.

I asked Evelyn today (good friend many years) and YES, you can print out the code if desired, infact that is what most people are doing. Hope that helps a little and they know its a little buggy ....

The only way this will last more than a week will be for separate check ins for departures. One for people that have the app filled, and one for people that have not.

And for arrivals the same. One place for people with the app and separate booths for non app people. Otherwise forget it....................

I was able to fill out the form on the website and generate the pdf file, What I am not sure how to do is save the pdf file to my phone and then what app I need to display it when required to do so. I don't currently have a a browser operational on my phone because I have to much difficulty typing on the small screen keyboard. Thus I am not able to currently fill out the form on the phone itself and need a way to get the e-ticket on the phone and to display that file when needed. I can figure out how to save the pdf file on the phone fairly easily. It is the subsequent displaying of that file which will need an APP and I do not know what to download and install from the google play store.
Hello.

a PDF file saved to your phone is the safest way to go, You could also print it (in case your phone runs out of battery), but that's not really neccesary. You could also get away with just taking a picture of the QR code with your phone and scanning that picture, our scanners will read it.
