I don't care about health insurance but a bank account is almost impossible now.
It is not, my friend! You can take a gringo fresh off the plane to Bhd leon or Banreservas and 20 mins later he/she would walk out with an account. Health insurance is even easier to obtain. You can get that from the states before you even arrive.

Andy, do you realize what documents you need to open a bank account right now?

TP, most of the things you listed here you DO NOT need residency for. You do not need residency for insurance, to buy property, to put your kids in school, etc. As for banking its only difficult to obtain a bank account at Banco Popular. The others are relatively easy; all that is needed is a passport. You do have a point with driving. But residency or not, in case of an accident some will try to fleece the gringo. I simply dont drive and use Uber. Its so cheap that a car simply isn't needed for my lifestyle.

Careful w/ that health insurance Giant

Non residents have less coverage than residents - seriously less

Remember the poster here whose broke his leg ?
An NResident.... they capped the payment low... cost him a few thousand US$$ to pay his share

That was the posting a few yrs ago

Not true for bank account. I've tried at BHD Leon. No go w/o a residency.

Totally agree on car. That's last on my list. I use guaguas and not uber.

He's just resisting for fun Nan. They're all angry and nervous about the foretold immigration measures and enforcement of the new administration. Members are getting angry, defensive and use are using insults to make up for their insecurities over their AFIS histories

I have an account with bhd Leon and so do my other overstaying friends. We all used our passports and nothing more. I don't know what branch you went to but my dollar and peso account was easy.

I went to the Boca Chica branch about 6 or so weeks ago. They gave me a paper that said with residencia, passport, and some other things. I stopped there.

Interesting. I still use my stateside insurance but my friends have had no issues with their health insurance. This is the first I have ever heard of your coverage being less if you aren't a resident. I'll take your word on it since I'm not knowledgeable in this area.

Yes and then you give them your passport, he enters something into the computer, asks for 2 references, and youre on your way.

Hilarious! .......and going on ad nauseam about this and prostitution.
What's the point???

As is this one by Windy:
."The PLD created regulations, which include the overstay fees, regulations that are outside of the law.
That is how the PLD has avoided enforcing the law, by making up their own rules. Did you not read the OP? ] end quote

Is the next gob.do going to be substantially different???
I don't know.

But did you read the original post in this thread?

Shakira aka Lobo hips don't lie and Andre are tag teaming the boards with defensive posturing on overstay. They have one point I agree with. Who cares who is legal and who is not. True, overstayers spend money and contribute to the economy. True overstayers never got the boot for this. That said, folks that have unincorporated assets and family ties that they actually care about need to tighten up their ship. Those that have had "problems" in the past here also should tighten up. Problems meaning "fichado". As WW said and Cao, database systems are up to date. The country is now up and running on some serious technology. I know because I have deployed some of these systems! If you have assets hopefully they are incorporated. Do so now, if not. This is meaningful help to folks that are up in the air right now. Soon, you will find that a passport loaded with overstay will 100% be denied re-entry. Again, not to offend anyone. But we all get what's coming, maybe tomorrow maybe instantly, maybe in the next life.

Happens when the hospital gets big apparently.... minor stuff = OK

Of course it could have been a recent policy..... and the company wouldn't pay the large amount

But that was the report here.... he got stuck for the major portion of the bill

I expect that on departure, you will be told not to come back...
either for a period of time - like a suspension
or
without a residency application in hand

The US locks some out for 5 yrs for visa violations.... many countries do

Our people here will cry 'Foul'... but overstays are dealt with the world over
As usual, RD is a bit slow on the uptake

Wait and see......

I continue to be saddened by your pot shots at the Dominican people. There is corruption in any country. Many times folks like you don't even know it's there.
He took no pot shot at ANYBODY, Man-goo. He simply stated how he maneuvers through an airport.

Are you like 5'2" and 140lbs, bruh...LOL

What are you exactly over compensating for or is your meat intake just too low🤣

He's perpetuating the corruption.... the overstay fee negotiator....

One day....
they may take the money and then cuff him for refusal to pay

Let him/her talk out of that !!
