Manager of Rua's Bar and lounge in the capital defends policy of barring black and homosexual patrons:

?Rua's reserves the right to admission, it?s a right which bars have to decide who can and who cannot enter, our public is demanding and elite and decides whom to rub elbows with and whom not,?

http://dominicantoday.com/dr/local/...ays-Dominican-Republic-bar-sticks-by-its-ways

Personally, I don't like the policy... but believe they should have the right to make their own policy as a private business.

Thoughts?
So what's the problem? I won't go there because most of my friends in the DR are black "Don't know about their orientation LOL"

Isn't that what Rand Paul said?

YES, exactly. I'm native to Kentucky, so I'm keeping up with the senate race there. According to Paul, though the government should not discriminate and he personally is opposed to discrimination, private companies should be able to cater to whomever they choose.

I'm voting by absentee ballot in that particular race. Does anyone want to buy my vote? (just kidding about that)

Interestingly enough, if you look at the website listed below, you'll see pictures of some of the patrons of Rua. Some of the folks would classify as "black" in the US. Others look like they belong on the cast of Jersey Shore. (cynical comment self-censored)

I appreciate the existence of that Club with it's racist policy, really.
because that means that all the 'imaginary' white and wannabe rich Dominican Dumbazzes go to that Club and I do not have to rub ellbows with that trash at the places where I enjoy to hang out.
that the Law of this country allows such statement of a property is a joke IMHO.
the constitution of this country says clear that the authority of the country has to make sure that nobody get's discriminated for the color of his/her skin, such discrimination is clearly and publicly done by the Club of the nuckleheads, so it is the obligation of the authorities to azzkick the license of that Club.
did they?
Noap.
on the other side,
with so many Dominicans on a dozen pages of comments on the link provided in the OP, complaining about the Club and it's black owners statement:
where are the Capitalenos with Balls?
why did they not already simply walk or drive their Jeepetas there to that Club and burned it down?
sounds to me like a heck of blah b;ah blah and a lot of promotion for that Idiots Club which I don't think will loose any of it's ''customers'',
because their customers are exactly those nutheads who want it to be that way,
and it will stay that way til the opposition has the Balls to burn it down.

Come on down, and you'll be fine, so long as you don't go to that particular establishment. All in all, you'll find the Dominican people are wonderful and the country beautiful.

Unfortunately, no matter where you go in this world, you're going to find a few people who hold views that you find objectionable.

Let us not promote lawlessness. I find the club's policy reprehensible, so they will never get neither a peso nor a penny from me.

I know you don't really mean to incite lawlessness, but rhetoric against reprehensible policies has greater power when it remains above that which it criticizes.

I would say 95+% classify as extremely ugly,
at least half of the guys look gay.
that page 'detras del bonche' shows sponsors Brugal and Claro,
why not to write some customers reviews to them to let them know that their products will not be purchased anymore b/c it seems their companies assist promotion of Racismn?

Excellent suggestion. A very positive approach to a reprehensible situation.

yes,,
in my very very VERY soft moments I can be that way.
even that I grew up in times of Western Germany's good ole revolution Fevers. I am a born Rebel and I do not see anything Lawless in braking the "Laws" by a large number of Citizens together to show the Authorities that the "Law" is not what the Voters awaited from their Representatives it to be.
but I will stay soft on my remarks for the moment so Chiri does not need to kick me in the Wee hours.
but I darn sure would not let anybody use my fireextinguishers in case specific locations in the Capital City would accidentally catch some kinda chispa somehow. and I would not take fotos of such incidents to send to 'authorities' to bother good hardball carrying Ciudadanos.

Now I think that's perfectly acceptible.

Or as we say in Kentucky, "I wouldn't pi$$ on the place if it were on fire."

(Don't delete that, moderator. You know it's funny.)

This is just a reminder that you are not in Nueva Yor(k). (I was going to say we are not in Kansas, but they probably have those same issues in a place like Kansas.)

Now, what is the LAW about this in the DR?

The LAW is not the problem here, the law does protect the citizens from discrimination, however, it is simply not put into practice properly. Most Dominicans are not bothered as much with these kind of practices compared to people living in first world countries. I believe it has been said before that these practices fairly common anywhere, they are just not advertised as bluntly as done by the idiot running this bar. Most businesses would call it house rules and apply it as a door policy or simply request for a non-existent membership card and refuse you anyway if they feel you do not fit their target audience. So I am sure blacks and gays can and will enter that club as long as they believe they will respect their house rules. The question is now whether you would like to be associated with this club now that their brain dead manager has revealed their door policy?

Why is it the most liberal are also the most fascist?

Some of you here are so liberal you want that people not be discriminated by forcing them on others, or physically hurting them ("burn down...") when they have done nothing to you. Very progressive.

If the club doesn't want to let gays and blacks in then it should be allowed to do just that. That's their problem and is in no way hurting you directly so why advocate violence them? Just don't go to that establishment.

Better yet start your own club that doesn't allow racist homophobes to get in. But even that would be contradictory in logic.

Hold on wait a minute, what do you mean push you all with our racism "crap"? And how would we make fun of the way you identify yourselves? At least dark skinned people in the US can work simple jobs like front desk at expensive hotels. We weren't afraid to fight in the 50's and 60's.. (dont get me started on how it all ended in the 90's and 2000's) Anyway, I have read, read, re-read, written papers on racial identity in Latin America. I don't get it, I couldn't stand it and I wish a person who is only one or two skin shades lighter than I would consider themselves WHITE.. Unthinkable.. Fine you may not be BLACK, but your Bronze/Brown ass sure isn't WHITE! Okay, I had to get that out of my system because you really rubbed me the wrong way!
