With the STORM hitting the US east coast, we don't know when "Our Precious" will arrive. We did get a note that the place in N.J. had shipped them. With what they have had to deal with.... I can wait.

I have several other items that I had order that the shipper has 5 tracked. 4 in S.D. and one in Sosua. So I get Christmas early not knowing what I will find... or when. New generator breaker? New lawn tractor tire or tubes? Solar panels or rack? Wife "stuff"? New John Deere big a$$ farm equipment to clear ur road? (we wish)

I told U all about rainy season that started in Nov. and rained EVERY DAY into March.

WW, Ringo,
Rainfall over night from 8 AM yesterday to 06:30 am was 2.9 inches. Rain started in the evening but was really heavy in the early hours of the morning. Short power outage about 6:30 here too ! Temperature has dropped too - it was 21 C 70F at 6:00 am and the cold front seems to have pushed a bit more to the east but still over the island. Still a few more days yet I think. This front has dropped 7.6" in the last two days on Sosua /Cabarete area and more I hear in POP.
WW = you seem to have a nervous keyboard ! It posts things two or three times.

Yes, the radar shows things have inched eastward overnite still cool here too.

It seems the further east you are the worse.... where's Yappy when you need him?? He should report.

I pumped out pool water yesterday morning since it was overflowing from the 24 hours before, about 6". It is overflowing again this morning. I know that a pool is not a scientific rain gauge, but pumping out 12 inches in two days tells me that we have a lot of rain. LOL. Our little yard pond is now large enough for me to dig out my old fishing pole and see if any fish have moved in.

I'm thinking about a little water wheel generator to put under the roof down spouts? Enough roof water has entered the cystern and out the overflow two feet below the ground surface that it is now washing away the beach sand where it empties.

Edenorte is on for our morning charge and heavy use. Wife has the cloths dryer going but I think she is trying to get warm. Odd that we feel cold at 70 F. (I told her we should have put in one LARGE fireplace.)

Rain is letting up and time to go out and get things done.

Our worker didn't show up this morning. Knowing that part of our main/only road into/out of our area tends to flood some I went to look.

I've NEVER in the twenty some years that I started coming here have I seen the flood waters so high. People that have never had water in their homes have several inches.

Google Earth and you can get an idea.... from MY end of the street.

North end of Martinez the street is flooded north of Hotel Voramar.
A little south is the Church with the white and blue striped tent. ALL the land to the west, going toward the Playa Chiquita Casino in under water. The Casino appears not flooded.
The Hotel west of the Casino, being rebuilt has some flooding. The new ower of the Casino and hotel is finishing a mansion to the west of the hotel... his land is flooded.

People that owe us from a law suit tried to settle with some of this land. NO DEAL. We know that it floods and is part of the drainage system for Sosua. Whole thing under 4 feet of water and now a river runs through it.

Sorry... I have no way to get to the other side so I don't know what is going on in town.

GREAT JOB WITH THE NEW DRAINAGE SYSTEM.

Anybody looking for a bit of good news ????

The front is now moving east at a discernible speed..... breaking up and going away.
At least that's how I see the radar.

I expect the Puerto Ricans aren't having a good day....... its right above them

we started with the extra heavy rain on the east coast here around PC early evening, including full thunder and lightning.
this morning wind been at least on 20knots, Ocean is a wild Thingy today.
since 30 minutes sun is out for the first time today, wind went down significantly.
here on the Eastshores and over Puerto Rico the Rain is coming in from the Northeast, but it is no biggy.

sounds like you guys on the north are under quiet some Watering.

My newly fertilized lawns are looking great. I'll put some large mouth Bass in my new front lawn pond. Our little wind generator has kept us off diesel and Edenorte. Pools have all new fresh soft rain water. Sun came out for 5 minutes and now clouding up again. Surf is down a little but still crashing on the coral reef. Looking toward POP, can bearly make it out, the sea water is BROWN as in shyt coming out of the Sosua bay where the rivers empty into it.

I'm not complaining. All is good with me and mine. Just reporting but NOT going to swim in the Ocean OR eat any fish for a long time. :)

we went to playa pueblito last night... manolo tavarez justo was more like a stream than street. for several meters there was not a piece of road surface visible, not even sidewalks. then, just approaching playa dorada little canada there has flooded the whole street. there was no asphalt, so curbs, no earth, just water. reaching all the way to the car door too (highlander).

rained most of the night and today as well. right now the sun is out but i do not think it will last....

my friends are coming next week (sunday), i hope they will have better weather than that...

OK Mike. What's going on? LOL

A few little rain showers up to about 2 PM and .... WIND.... DRIVING RAIN.... driving surf.... not driving the car. The wind has just about gone around the whole compass today. Another 4 inches in the pool. My yard pond is turning into small lake... note to self to order more Bass. But for the last hour.... VERY cloudy but dead calm. It's spooky.

Surf is up again with swells now breaking off shore coming from the N. But seas confused trying to come out of the N.W. This afternoons wind/rain was out of the N.W.

I THINK that our road is open but I don't need anything in town so didn't check.

dv8.... I took my wife and self to realize that you CAN use the pool in the rain. Ya gonna get wet anyway. Let's hope that this... whatever it is starts to move soon.

I see that NO ONE is talking about down town Sosua. ???

We went to los Gringos y'day for lunch...... rained cats/dogs all afternoon.
The whole place flooded.... everybody is echoing Ringo's comments that they have never seen such flooding.

Our celebrations ( my friend had his first grandchild ) continued thru the rain in RSJ and Cabrera.....

Agreed about the wind.... it couldn't figure out where to come from all afternoon.

As I type, I'm watching more more come from the east.

That front that said was dissipating has reformed..... Samana must need snorkels.

I need the meteorology course and fins !!

ww, Ringo,
The weather here in Sosua/Cabarete is sunny without cloud at present. Overnight there was 3.4" of rain and so this front SO FAR has dropped over 11 INCHES of rain since 9th. If I were to forecast then I think this will be a short respite as the Tropical wave will meet up with the Cold Front over PR - see the current Radar NWS radar image loop of Long Range Reflectivity from Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands and probably push is all back over DR again. So enjoy the sun! Tuesday and Wednesday will probably be wet and overcast again !

Up before dawn and could see the stars and lights of POP. Sun coming up and bright promising a sunny day..... all the way to about 8:15.

Sun is now behind clouds that are building up. Surface breeze is out of the W.N.W. but the lower clouds are coming from the E. Go figure.

At least our road must be passable since all the help showed up on time this morning. I guess that we had better get into town and pick up a few things.............. like a boat. lol.

Ya Olly... I've been watching that little front to our east also that should push it's way right back over us. yip.... pee.

Home weather stations?

Does anyone own, have experience or has researched Home Weather Stations?

I'm thinking of getting one but would like some input.

Looking at:
Ambient Weather WS-2080 Wireless Home Weather Station

Ambient Weather EZ-48 Weather Station Tripod and Mast Assembly
to mount on top of my gazebo roof. (two floors so would be high and also have a line of site through a window for transmission. I have found that many wireless stuff has a problem transmitting thru cement walls.)

and... guess WHAT? It's raining.............................. again.
