Allow me to add a few...

Allegro's Cafe - Sherman Ave
D'Kalaf Cafe Concierto - 10th ave. & 204
Arka Lounge - Bway & 192
Republik - 207th street
Umbrella - I forget the cross streets but I believe it's on 10th Ave and 190 something street

All these places serve food, drinks & have dance floors.

I think someone mentioned Mirage restaurant. That's a descent place. Many fights break out there though. Last time I went there I had to hide under the table because of all the beer bottles that were flying past my head.

Cmedina,
The Jubilee in queens is great. I've been to there many times. However, I like the one on Nagle Ave. more. I've been going to that one for many years and people know me there. Also, there is no dancing in the Jubilees.

Hey Keith, if you drive up to NYC, let me know. Maybe I will hitch a ride. Okay, who is going to set the establishment? I agree with DRtechie, ,...Italian food at a DR1 reunion would be sacrilege. Can we take a vote for Don Pedro's?

Charlie,
maybe we can get several of us from the DC area to drive up together, make a party out of the trip? I have a van if we need it! lol And then crash the NYC party, figure out how we can top it at our own DC Area DR1 reunion someday soon. Whatcha think?

I am still figuring out my schedule for the next couple of months. I'd love to get back to the DR for the Presidente festival, but if I'm still in NY, I'd defeinitely head in for a reunion.

There is a Dominican restaurant/bar in queens around the block from LGA airport. They do sancocho, mangu etc etc etc and most importantly have Presidente as well.

Just buzzed my buddy and this is the place that was mentioned in a prior post, called Jubilee.

It might be harder to get to than a manhattan location, but is a pretty quiet place.

Calling on all Washington DC DR1 lurkers to come out of woodwork for Keith's van ride to NYC. I second motion, if we can get a few more to make the trip. Hey, it would have to be cool to see Rob in the big apple. Any takers in DC land? Cmon, we know you are out there.

I am also not a big fan of Mirage. I went there a few months back and I was not impressed at all. The food is not that great and over priced. I even chipped a tooth eating their mofongo.

There's a new restaurant/lounge about a block away from Mirage on Dyckman. The place is called DR-K and it's a really nice place to hang out and have dinner. Downstairs is a bar and restaurant and upstairs they have a lounge with a dance floor. They play classic Merengue which is why I really like it. The crowd was mixed the night I went there...mostly young professionals. I haven't been there in a couple of months so I don't know if it has changed.

I've also heard "Umbrella" is a really nice place but I don't know exactly where it's located. A co-worker recommended "Rancho Jubilee" in queens so I would be interested in checking that out as well.

Hey the problem with these Dominican places is that there are WAY TOO MANY DOMINICANS there! LOL

Hey, Carmines is a GREAT restaurant. I sure hope that these Dominican places are as good! Chip a tooth on Mofongo? Sheesh the King Of Mofongo on Sosua Beach has great Mofongo! Ask Rob or CC if you don't believe me. I can bring some back when I go next week to eat at Carmines!

Ok, I am not going to try and add anything more to this thread. I get out voted anyway.

They have another one in Mid-Manhattan (44th St. & Broadway). You can even reserve an entire room on that one, not sure about the one on 90th St. I think that's an excellent choice and a perfect location.

Hispanola on 181st. and Cabrini is the best restaurant uptown. The same family owns Arka and Jubilee. Gourmet food, Dominican plus. There's even a private room that might be available. A little pricey, but great. Jubilee is really cool as well - more casual and great vibe, the best of NY Dominicano. Both are a short walk to Arka, which has dancing. - D

I have to agree with Scott.

I mean, these places sound real nice but I don't go to them because of the idiotic people that are there.

Don Pedro's sounds good and I would go to the Jubilee in Queens.

look at where the other places are located, not too nice

good luck deciding on a place

if I am aorund, I may join you guys

Bugsey I have several places in mind. For the closest DR experience I am thinking we pick a place in Washington Heights (Upper Manhattan). Any objections?

I will come up with a list of locations and post it tomorrow. We can then put it to a vote.

Awww...yeah! I'll be there. Friday October 10th at Washington Heights, at 181's Hispanola?

I love Washington Heights! Dat's my home! Right now I'm at college in Newark though but I have off from classes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

How will we all know eachother? I plan on wearing on "Washington Heights-Home Of The Haze" shirt to make it easier for you to notice me. But how will the rest of us be able to distinquish eachother?
