Slightly on topic: Is there anyone out there in " Forum Land " who has knowledge about the early history of music in the Republica Dominicana ? Were there any specific instruments that originated here ? And lastly, are there any clubs or locations in the country ( SD etc. ) that play such music ???

Every Sunday (weather permitting) from 5-10pm outdoor live music at las ruinas de San Francisco at the zona colonial. You will thank me.

Frank, are you sure about this one? It doesn't look like Plaza Naco.
Nope that's Ortega y Gasset next to Jonh F. Kennedy...

See the fence of Centro Olimpico in the left side of the Picture?

Whoa! What a flashback.!!!

There was a Chinese restaurant that did something similar to this a couple of years ago in Acropolis.

That didn't last long.

Anybody been to Acropolis lately? Are there any food places left on the 4th floor?

I only wish i had the opportunity to visit the country in the 70s and 80s. Must have been so much different.

Nope. It is Plaza Naco but on the Fantino Falco side.

Used to go to the doughnut shop all the time. can't make out the sign on the shop next door, but it used to be a stationery shop. If I remember correctly they closed down and opened up again on the opposite side of the road. i think it is a furniture or lighting shop now.
Cineplex was a bit further down.
Most people use the street nowadays to go to the body shop gym.

My Great-great grandfather outside of his house in Gurabo, he is holding one of his sons who just passed away last October. The picture was taken around 1917-1919.
