Update -- Driving back from Sosua middle aged caucasian man who rented a motor scooter was hit in front of Kite Beach Inn.. I thought the car in front of me hit a horse but it was actually a man. If I was not with my kids and pregnant wife I would stop to help but I could not do it with them in the car for many reasons. I think he will survive since he was wearing a 1/2 helmet.

ah, don't you know that people come here for freedom? they need to wear helmets back home but in DR they can do as they please. and as long as they wear long pants it's fine, right?

I'll give you more sarcasm.
In British Columbia Canada everyone has to wear a helmet except Sikhs, they can ride with a turban.
Isn't equality great?
Some States in the US do not require a helmet.

In US hospitals, we LOVE people who ride without helmets!
Get a lot of really good organs to transplant.
Usually young healthy males.
We called motorcycles:."Donor Bikes"!
Unfortunately in the DR a lot of "Organs" go to waste.
