Just thinking about people who may let's say import an older Fiat or like you say a Yugo, from the USA as to what they may be up against finding parts and services in the DR.

Regards,

PJT
Just about every make and model of vehicle has their devotees who form internet groups to help other owners find parts.

Unless it qualifies as a classic.......now that is funny..............a classic Yugo.............it cannot be over 5 years old and must be landed by June 30th of the year following its 5th anniversary.

Parts for a Fiat? Good question because they seem to need parts, lots and lots of them. That is the reason in the automotive world.........Fiat stands for Fix It Again Tony.

any idea if parts are availability here in DR ?????
I am sure they are available, just not likely to be from US sources......unless the RAM 1000 shares some of the same components as its North American counterparts.

With respect to a new vehicle... does anyone recommend the Toyota Hilux?
Absolutely. They have been building them since 1968..............one of the longest run production vehicles in history.

While it is not sold in the US......it has nothing to do with its quality but rather how it would be taxed since it is made in Japan (google "Chicken Tax").

In the US the Tacoma, affectionately dubbed a Taco, takes its place as it is Made in the US and the one made in Mexico benefits from the North American Free trade Agreement (NAFTA).
